Job Summary

Sandvik is seeking applications from motivated individuals for Service Manager based in Balikpapan.

This position is responsible for overseeing both the operational and strategic aspects of maintenance operations across all units. This role involves developing and strengthening both central and site-level maintenance functions to support business continuity and efficiency. The service team consists of a number of technicians and workshop personnel who are stationed at various sites across Indonesia.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for meeting the needs of the business regarding resources and develop the operation. Developing vision and converts to implementing strategies.

  • Responsible to operate the business continuous improvements within Performance Management.

  • Support the development of investment plans.

  • Leads the business at an overall level and delegates mandate with responsibility to the organization.

  • Responsible for the development of a yearly budget, ongoing expense tracking and cost savings initiatives.

  • Responsible for the competence development and staffing within the service department. Ensure compliance with all employment, health and safety laws.

COLLABORATION WITH OTHER BUSINESS LINE

  • As the matrix organization you will be collaborating with many people within Sandvik in both global and SEA regions, including Business Line Managers and factories in Tampere and Alachua.

  • Direct report to Territory Manager / Parts & Service Manager and dotted line to BLM Parts & Service.

  • Equipment department.

  • Parts Department (Sales Manager, PSSR, CSSR).

  • Rock Tools department (Sales Manager, TSSR).

  • Key Account Manager.

SUPERVISION/MANAGE/ACT AS A COACH

  • Workshop Superintendent

  • Site Support Coordinator / Site Manager

  • Field Service Superintendent Field / Site Technician

  • Workshop Team

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Champion a proactive and visible commitment to Sandvik’s Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Vision and culture, embedding "Zero Harm" as a strategic business priority.

  • Ensure EHS leadership is integrated into strategic planning, decision-making, and organizational objectives.

  • Provide adequate resources, policies, and systems to support EHS performance and continual improvement.

  • Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across all levels to drive sustainable EHS performance.

  • Regularly review EHS performance metrics and lead improvement initiatives based on trends, audits, and incidents.

  • Ensure effective communication of EHS priorities and expectations to all employees, contractors, and stakeholders.

  • Demonstrate exemplary EHS behavior and ensure the organization complies with Sandvik global EHS Policy, ISO 14001/45001, and SMKP requirements.

  • Empower all employees to stop and report any work that appears unsafe or could cause harm, without fear of retaliation.

PREFERRED ENVIRONMENT & MOBILITY

  • Field - Any environment (Location Customer Sites / Workshops).

  • Willing to travel globally within Sandvik area and/or from site to site within country of Indonesia.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Over 10 years of experience in maintenance, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial role, ideally in the mining or heavy equipment industry.

  • Proven track record in maintaining and troubleshooting Sandvik or similar OEM mining equipment (e.g., loaders, drill rigs, underground trucks).

  • Experience in implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, using systems like SAP PM, Maximo, or similar CMMS tools.

  • Preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering. A diploma may be acceptable with extensive experience.

  • Advanced technical qualifications or certifications may be advantageous.

  • Intermediate English proficiency (CEFR Level C1).
