The Role
Enable business to conduct operations within acceptable level of legal risk.
Safeguard compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies.
Manage and advise on legal risk within area of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Provide legal advice within the area of responsibility, both reactive and proactive.
Identify legal risks relevant to the organization and the business
Ensure proper legal risk management of agreements and other legal documents and/or correspondence (drafting, reviewing, support in negotiations etc.)
Provide template documentation and instructions (where appropriate).
Manage legal disputes, including managing external counsel.
Share information and knowledge internally.
Provide training on legal processes, templates and tools within area or responsibility.
Assist the organization in implementation of relevant policies and procedures.
Support of compliance programmes.
Legal support of sourcing activities.
Monitoring, implementation and reporting on new and existing legislation
Ensure that the Sandvik organization is up to date and compliant with regulatory and legal requirements, applicable laws and regulations within the area responsibility. This includes appropriate legal training of relevant staff.
Apply compliance process across multiple jurisdictions showing an understanding of different compliance requirements.
Profile Required
Bachelor of Laws (master’s degree advantageous).
Admitted attorney.
Experience requirements
At least four years of relevant experience preferably in international or inhouse corporate experience environment or law firm.
Good knowledge of Commercial Law, experience in legal contracts review and negotiation.
Mergers and Acquisition experience.
Exposure to environment with sensitive/confidential information.
Excellent drafting capability.
Litigation experience.
Knowledge of the latest applicable legislation e.g. Companies Act 2008 and keeping abreast of these laws.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Packages (General - Excel; PowerPoint; Word).
