Apprentice Workshop Technician

Location: Lively, ON

Currently, we have an opening for an Apprentice Workshop Technician. The Apprentice Workshop Technician is responsible for troubleshooting as well as the repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical aspects of Sandvik equipment and components.

What you will be doing

  • Follow scope of work within time constraints to meet established delivery targets
  • Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions
  • Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective parts components or systems according to scope of work
  • Identify additional repairs, compile parts and labor estimates, and communicate to the supervisor
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance
  • Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, parts listings and submit drawing revisions
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Stay current with industry, customer, product developments and technical best practices
  • Build sound relationships with the workshop team and internal and external customers to ensure smooth operations
  • Undertake self-training and development as required
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Manager

What you will bring along

  • In possession of, or working towards a technical diploma (HD Mechanic or Electrical)
  • Related experience with industry-specific equipment is an asset
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated, broad team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to work shift work as required
  • Flexible, self-motivated with demonstrated initiative
  • Ability to develop knowledge of customer business processes in relation to product rebuild
  • Developed time management and organizational skills
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, Outlook)
