Quality Control Vehicle Test and Commissioning Technician III
Job Purpose
As a Quality Control Vehicle Test Technician III, you will work cross-functionally to develop and carry out test procedures and provide technical expertise to project team members and less experienced personnel. You will be responsible for determining the best process to ensure test integrity, meet deadlines, manage resources, balance risk, and communicate effectively. The potential candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting of equipment and operating portable test equipment, testing devices and special tools towards execution of support activities. You will help influence and improve future and current products and processes. The Vehicle Test Technician will work closely with engineering to coordinate and plan test logistics and execution.
Education Level:
Two-year certification from college or technical school; or 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Job Experience:
Minimum 5+ years of heavy equipment experience or equivalent experience
2+ years experience in electro-mechanical harness & assembly builds that adhered to IPC &/or SAE
Assembly experience in the heavy equipment industry
Electric or hybrid vehicle experience
Strong aptitude to troubleshoot electromechanical systems with embedded software
Solid hand-on experience on electro-mechanical systems
Skills/Special Training Required to Effectively Perform the Job:
Familiar with reading wiring diagrams and other engineering documentation
Proficient use and familiarity with precision tools and instruments (Multimeters, torque wrenches, Calipers, diagnostic software, etc.)
Battery maintenance and management experience
Performed various precision assembly and test operations on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical valves, actuators and systems
Prototype development experience
Familiar with CAN signal standards
Experience using EPICOR is a plus
Performance driving experience
History of performing quality investigations and Root Cause Analysis
Development of accurate, detailed, and comprehensive test procedures
Responsibilities:
Review failures & provide corrective actions during Commissioning & Startup.
Develop and execute commissioning test plans, including resourcing, logistics, equipment, and scheduling.
Provide local/remote technical support for troubleshooting during commissioning as needed.
Ownership of administrative responsibilities including, service reports, issue logging/tracking, job safety analysis, and quality compliance.
Proactively identify project design, quality, or operational limitation discrepancies which conflict with design intent or owner requirement.
Oversee functional testing procedures, in order to verify that system operations meet complete design intent and owner requirements.
Work with test, hardware, electrical, and software engineers to execute test plans
Maintain focus on test goals during execution and collaborate with Sr. Test Engineer to ensure safe, efficient and accurate testing.
Coordinate and arrange logistical details involving location, tools, and resources to ensure a successful test.
Record and report the incidents of electromechanical equipment/subsystem failures and perform preliminary troubleshooting; contact engineering for solution if necessary.
Report any damage or shortage of parts/tools to the logistic department in order to request replacement part or order spares and/or consumables, tools etc
Identify and replace defective components
Perform routine assembly and test of assemblies, groups and units
Diagnosing 12-24 volt electrical systems and computer sensors and controllers
Electrical Panels
Follow technical procedures and perform hands-on qualification and engineering testing to ensure product compliance (for electrical, mechanical, and environmental)
Takes responsibility for safety in the immediate work area. Notifies supervisor of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices. May provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment
Inspects the acceptability of purchased and manufactured materials by thorough examination(visual/mechanical) according to material specifications (engineering drawings) and using the appropriate inspection tools and inspection methodology (GD&T Principles)
Push resolving key quality issues and continuous process improvement
Review / audit supplier’s manufacturing processes and quality systems
Determine cause of supplier quality problems and coordinate/implement effective and timely resolutions
Escalates NCRs or other quality issues as needed
Maintain required documentation and files
Discuss part critical characteristics and required process controls
Communicate urgent issues to Leadership
Assist in root cause analysis activities as required
Performs other tasks in the department, such as material handling, organizing the inspection queue area, providing technical support to peers as needed, performing source inspection at the supplier’s site, etc.
Acts as Sandvik representative when performing inspection at the Supplier Site (Source Inspection). This person is expected to perform this duty according to Sandvik’s professional conduct
Final inspection for manufactured assemblies and/or modules
In process inspection for electronic parts, electrical assemblies. Inspection of electro-mechanical assemblies, printed circuit board assemblies and cable & harness assemblies.
Perform the test inspection that covers all prototype and products that company produces (Vehicles, Batteries, Chargers, etc)

Able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs. unassisted. Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
Ability to document and report any issues discovered during testing or while performing vehicle inspections and report to engineers directly
