Right now, division Rock Tools – part of Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions – is looking for a commercially focused and pragmatic Application Engineer to join our Rotary & Raise Boring Management. We invite you to join a young, ambitious and exceedingly motivated team in a valuable position, where you get the freedom and opportunity to make your mark on our business.

We are a small group of product managers and application specialists supporting the global Rotary Tools and Drill String offering. We work closely with R&D, Supply Chain, Marketing Communications and our sales areas to develop, produce and promote new products to the market. Are you ready for an inclusive, stimulating environment that offers passionate colleagues, global visibility and great possibilities for self-development? Then this is your chance!

What about the job?
In this position, you frequently interact with our sales areas – conducting problem solving, field testing, product demos and process optimization. You also work in close relation with our customers to analyze their technical needs and train them in using our products, while making sure we keep our market leading solutions. With your technical expertise, you explore, identify and develop new application areas – and develop already exciting ones – and you are always ready to respond to more complex technical questions. In addition, you troubleshoot, investigate and resolve technical problems that may arise during or after an implementation. Understanding the whole supply chain and our customers is key to your success and, by collaborating with a variety of stakeholders, you build a high level of knowledge and competence in all parts connected to our business.

The location for this position is flexible within Africa. Since you work closely with our global sales department and our customers, frequent international travelling within the EMEA region is normally part of the assignment. However, due to the pandemic situation, we’re currently even more digital than usual in our ways of working.

Who you are?
We are looking for someone with an engineering degree in mining, machining or construction. You have a technical background and at least five years’ experience from the surface mining industry – practically working with both drilling and blasting. Equally important is your business mindset and the way you communicate and build relations with the different people you meet. Acting in a truly global organization calls for excellent English skills, verbally and in writing.

We are fascinated by your can-do attitude and organized approach, combined with your true technical interest and ability to successfully drive progress. Leading the way, making informed decisions, prioritizing and performing your assignments in a hands-on manner goes without saying and your analytical features enables you to collect data in a structured way. With an open mind, you easily interact with other departments and stakeholders, and you are an initiator who loves to make things happen.
