Engineering Manager, Product Qualification and Validation

Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology is a business area in the Sandvik Group and leading supplier of equipment and tools, service and support for the mining industry. We also provide solutions and knowledge in a wide range of applications such as quarrying, recycling, demolition, tunneling, civil engineering and dimensional stone.

Division Underground Drilling within Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology has end-to-end responsibility for Underground Drills business in mining and tunneling. We are currently looking for a proactive and business-oriented Engineering Manager, Product Qualification and Validation. The position is key role in division product development management team, permanent and based in Tampere, Finland.

Your responsibilities

As Engineering Manager, Product Qualification and Validation you will have overall responsibility of component and equipment verification and validation department. Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Develop and lead qualification and validation functions to support division product offering and product development goals
  • Ensure resources and qualification and validation plans for new component and product projects and current product development internally and externally. Actively participating on product development project planning.
  • Responsible for the development of qualification and validation methods and tools
  • Responsible for the productivity, competence and operational capability of the team
  • Utilize and seek potential external and internal opportunities for collaboration and development of validation processes
  • Responsible for action plans and budget

Your skills & qualifications

You have a University degree in a related field, preferably a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in engineering and have minimum 5 years’ experience in product development or project management preferably with mobile machinery. You have a proven record of leading an expert engineering or project team with good results. You have gained understanding in area of functional descriptions, simulations and virtual engineering methods, component selections, testing or verification and validation methods.

Your fluent communication skills both in Finnish and English is mandatory requirement. Proactive, systematic way of working, excellent leadership skills and problem solving will be needed. You can work under pressure in the multicultural stakeholder environment and you have capability to lead and develop the engineering team to meet the current and future challenging targets. Since we work close with our customers cooperation with them at their sites around the world is a part of the role.
