We currently have an opening for a Server Software Architect. In this role, you will be a key contributor to the design and evolution of the OptiMine MDP product - one of Sandvik’s most technologically advanced digital solutions for the mining industry. Working closely with cross‑functional teams, you will translate stakeholder needs into robust architectural designs, champion best practices, and help steer the technical vision of our server platform.

What you will be doing
• Define the detailed software architecture for the OptiMine MDP product.
• Translate complex stakeholder needs into SMART requirements and high‑quality technical documentation.
• Work collaboratively within an Agile development team, contributing to team success and continuous improvement.
• Oversee development of core functional logic in accordance with defined architectures and industry best practices.
• Implement technology strategies related to architecture, design, and system interfacing to meet evolving business needs.
• Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to ensure a resilient, scalable, high‑quality product platform.
• Participate in technological monitoring and coding‑standard definition to ensure systems remain efficient and durable.
• Implement security and data‑protection best practices across the server ecosystem.
• Mentor and guide junior team members, supporting the growth of technical talent across the organization.
• Troubleshoot complex code‑level issues and support investigation of challenging technical problems.
• Optimize the platform for maximum performance, speed, and scalability.
• Support new product introduction activities and coordinate cross‑team architectural alignment.
• Ensure smooth day‑to‑day functioning of assigned activities while coaching colleagues as needed.
• Drive strong communication and collaboration between multiple internal teams, building technical connections across the organization.
• Challenge stakeholder assumptions constructively and translate business expectations into practical, reliable architectural designs.
What you will bring along
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 8–12+ years of software development experience.
• 5–7+ years of experience in software architecture for large‑scale systems.
Technical Expertise
• Strong experience designing and implementing large‑scale distributed systems.
• Deep knowledge of software architecture, microservices, API design, and integration patterns.
• Experience with data architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, and real‑time streaming systems.
• Advanced understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, big‑data frameworks (Spark, Hadoop), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Hands‑on experience with Linux, containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and IaC tools (Terraform).
• Proficiency in C#, Python, Java, Go, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, and web technologies.
• Expertise with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tooling, and data‑governance practices.
• Familiarity with Production Control Systems, Automation, SCADA/PIMS, MQTT, IoT/Cloud/Edge technologies, and system optimization.
• Experience working in SCRUM environments; proficiency in Jira, Polarion, and Salesforce.
• Assets: embedded systems knowledge, system engineering principles, industry safety standards (ISO‑13849, IEC‑61508), and cloud architecture certifications.

• Occasional travel optional (0–10% annually).
Environmental Health and Safety
• Adhere to Sandvik’s Environmental, Health & Safety policies.
• Attend required training and use mandatory PPE when visiting Sandvik or customer sites.
