The role:
The IT Network Engineer ensures that network related incidents in our IT production environment are recorded, and the correct process is followed and adhered to. All incidents need to be monitored to closure.
The IT Network Engineer is accountable for designing, implementing, and maintaining computer networks within an organization. They ensure the smooth functioning of communication and data transfer systems, enabling businesses to operate efficiently and securely.
This role may be required to provide support to the Country IT Manager and assist with IT operations and initiatives across the African region as needed.
Key Performance Areas:
- Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
- Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
- Reporting network status to key stakeholders
- Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security.
- Investigating faults in the network
- Arranging scheduled upgrades
- Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
- Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP
- Evaluating Network costs and look for way to improve business costs.
- Ensure we follow best practice when assessing costs
- Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation.
- Ensuring Vendors meet the expected standards of the business.
Your profile:
- 10 years experience managing medium to large enterprises.
- Cisco certified.
- Cisco routers, firewalls, AP’s
- CCNP Qualification (NQF 6 or 7)
- English proficiency
- Valid driver’s license
- Physical & Medical ability to function in an underground mining environment
- May be required to travel
