The Role
The Business Analyst will support the Central Africa Sales Area (CAFR) by designing, developing, and maintaining automated, high-quality business intelligence solutions connected to Sandvik’s Aurora ERP system. The role will enable data-led decision-making across finance, sales, operations, logistics, and customer service.
The position focuses on delivering reliable, near-real-time visibility of key business and financial KPIs, reducing manual reporting, improving data consistency, and supporting management decision-making processes.
The role will be based in any of the CAFR territories (Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania or Zambia), reporting to the Sales Area Business Controller (SABC). A remote hire is also a possibility.
Essential duties & responsibilities
Business Intelligence & Dashboard Development
- Design, develop, and maintain dynamic dashboards connected directly to Aurora or other approved systems, ensuring daily or near-real-time data refresh.
- Build intuitive, user-friendly visualisations that support business, financial, and operational decision-making.
- Ensure dashboards are scalable, performant, and aligned with Sandvik BI standards
Data Modelling, Accuracy & Governance
- Design and maintain robust data models, measures, and calculations to support reliable and consistent reporting.
- Define, document, and maintain standard business and financial KPIs to ensure a single source of truth across CAFR.
- Validate data accuracy and completeness, proactively identifying discrepancies and working with system owners to resolve root causes.
- Maintain clear documentation for dashboards, data models, KPI definitions, and reporting logic.
- Ensure compliance with Sandvik’s global data security, privacy, and governance frameworks
Business Enablement, Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Support key management processes such as Monthly Operational Reviews (MORs), forecasting cycles, and performance reviews with relevant dashboards and analytical insights.
- Analyse trends and variances across finance, sales, service, and operations, highlighting risks, opportunities, and improvement areas.
- Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for business and finance leadership
- Automate recurring reporting processes to reduce manual effort, improve reliability, and minimise errors.
- Identify opportunities to simplify reporting, eliminate redundant dashboards, and improve usability.
- Continuously improve data quality, reporting efficiency, and analytical depth in line with evolving business needs.
Stakeholder Demand Management, User Adoption and Support
- Work closely with Finance, Business Control, Sales, Service, Logistics, and Supply Chain teams to gather reporting requirements and translate them into effective BI solutions.
- Act as a bridge between local business requirements and Sales Area / Divisional BI and Aurora teams.
- Manage and prioritise reporting and dashboard requests in alignment with SABC.
- Train and support end users in the effective use of dashboards and reporting tools.
- Promote data literacy and encourage consistent use of standardised BI solutions across CAFR.
Your profile
- Degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3+ years’ experience in building live dashboards using Power BI, or similar tools.
- Hands-on experience working with ERP systems, preferably Aurora, SAP, Oracle, or similar.
- Strong SQL skills and understanding of API/data integrations.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure (preferred).
- Solid understanding of financial, sales, and operational KPIs within an industrial or mining services environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects. Problem-solving mindset, with a bias toward action and ownership.
- Willingness to travel within and outside the country as required.
- A practical assessment will form part of the interview process.
