Finance and Accounting Specialist

We are looking for a Financial Specialist to ensure compliance with IFRS, local legislation and Sandvik processes and regulations in the finance area. As a Financial Specialist you will perform a variety of financial activities, including the preparation of Statutory accounts, financial statements, accounting, financial analysis, audit, tax, credit and collections.

The Position plays also an advising role on financial matters and the impact of laws and regulations on the organization.

Your responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include the below:

  • Perform daily accounting and bookkeeping activities, ensuring accurate posting of transactions in the general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities by preparing entries, accruals and reconciliations, working closely with the Finance Manager
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations (e.g., bank, intercompany, accruals, provisions), identifying and resolving discrepancies
  • Ensure VAT compliance, including calculations, reconciliations, and support for periodic VAT returns
  • Support Finance Manager with tax reporting.
  • Review and control employee expense reports, ensuring correct accounting treatment and proper posting
  • Manage payroll activities, including monthly salary calculations, maintenance of payroll records and reconciliations and collaboration with HR with respect to payroll‑related inquiries
  • Serve as the main point of contact for external auditors and statutory accountants, responsible for gathering and providing all required documentation and supporting materials
  • Perform internal control activities as defined by the Finance function, ensuring completeness and compliance with existing procedures
  • Support process improvements and contribute to the efficiency and accuracy of finance operations, within the scope of assigned responsibilities
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the Finance Manager and Business Control Manager for special projects, analyses, or reporting requirements

Your profile

The role reports to the Finance Manager Balkans and is based in Belgrade, Serbia.

  • Has 2-3 years of experience in accounting or finance
  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (formulas, pivot tables, reporting)
  • Speaks English fluently, both written and spoken
  • Is accurate, detail-oriented, and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Is proactive, reliable, and willing to learn, contributing to the efficiency and accuracy of the finance function
  • Has good communication skills and can liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders
