Machining Logistics, operated by Santrade Ltd., is the dedicated logistics function within the Machining business area of the Sandvik Group. It plays a key role in supporting the cutting tool divisions worldwide by ensuring timely, compliant and cost-efficient order fulfillment with minimal environmental impact.

With headquarters in Lucerne, Machining Logistics manages a global distribution network including centers in Hebron (US), Den Hoorn (NLD), Jundiai (BRA), Singapore (SGP), and Shanghai (CHN).

In Santrade Ltd. Switzerland, we perform financial & controlling activities for the total Machining Logistics organization. We are now looking for a talented business controller for the Machining Logistics operation, located in Lucerne, with the aim to develop into a true business partner for the Machining Divisions and distribution centers. Your mission

The Business Controller will provide financial leadership and support to various business units, ensuring financial targets are met and strategic goals are achieved. This role requires an experienced professional with a strong background in financial planning, analysis, and control, capable of driving business performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Partnering: Collaborate closely with the assigned business areas to drive financial performance and operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include:
    • Provide Financial Insights: Deliver accurate analysis and actionable recommendations to support strategic and operational decision-making.
    • Develop Financial Models: Create and implement models and scenario analyses to evaluate business initiatives and long-term strategies.
    • Performance Monitoring: Track and assess financial results, identify trends, and propose improvement measures to enhance profitability and cost control.
  • Freight Cost Control: Monitor, analyze, and control freight costs to ensure cost-effective logistics operations.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis and reporting to provide actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts for distribution centers, ensuring alignment with company financial goals.
  • Business Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to assess the performance of distribution centers.
  • Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements within the logistics network.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular financial reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key findings and recommendations.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience in a business controller or similar financial role, preferably within the logistics or distribution industry.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar position in an international company
  • Strong knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong expertise in Excel; proficiency in Power BI, SQL, Python, or R is a strong asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented, accuracy and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Integrity and ethical approach to financial management.
