About the Role
As the Senior Tax Manager, you will be the primary leader responsible for all aspects of direct and indirect U.S. tax, transfer pricing, compliance, and reporting. You will advise executive management, support business units on complex transactions, and ensure alignment with both local and global policies. This is a high-profile position within the Finance Leadership Team,
Your remit will extend to providing strategic tax advice for major business initiatives such as M&A, ERP implementation, and ongoing process improvement projects. You will also support the professional development of your team and drive a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive culture within the tax function.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all direct US tax compliance, reporting, and filings.
Offer guidance on indirect tax compliance.
Provide expert advice on US federal, state, and local tax matters, including transfer pricing and tax-efficient structuring.
Partner with business units, HR, Legal, IT, and finance teams to support strategic transactions and day-to-day operations.
Monitor changes in US tax law and communicate implications across business areas, ensuring compliance and readiness.
Coordinate and oversee tax audits, reviews, and inquiries from relevant tax authorities.
Prepare and review tax effect accounting entries for US legal entities and ensure accuracy in statutory reporting.
Maintain and develop Sandvik’s US Tax Risk Register, identifying emerging risks and recommending mitigating actions.
Develop and deliver internal training on tax matters to relevant stakeholders and teams.
Champion a strong EHS culture by aligning with Sandvik’s 2030 sustainability targets and “Zero Harm” vision.
Foster an inclusive and high-performing team environment that supports innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Manage the relationship with external tax advisors.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, Accounting, Law or related field.
Extensive experience in US tax with a proven record at a senior level within a corporate or professional advisory setting.
Advanced knowledge and practical skills across US income tax, payroll tax, sales/use tax, international tax, and transfer pricing.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate complex tax law effectively to various audiences.
Strong leadership, mentoring, and collaboration skills with experience managing teams of tax professionals.
Excellent relationship-building, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Analytical and strategic mindset with a focus on delivering solutions and customer service.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience with international tax issues, particularly in a global corporate structure.
Exposure to projects such as M&A, ERP implementations, and cross-border transactions.
