Job Summary

Sandvik is seeking applications from motivated individuals for the EHS Officer based in Balikpapan.

The role is responsible for delivering planning, implementing, and enforcing an organization's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) system, policies and procedures. The primary objective is to create a workplace that is safe and healthy for people and the organization.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • EHS Regulations and Compliance Knowledge:

A deep understanding of environmental, health, and safety regulations, standards, and best practices is essential. This competency includes knowledge of local and international regulations (such as OSHA, ISO 14001, or other industry-specific standards), as well as the ability to apply these regulations to create a safe and compliant workplace.

  • Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification:

Able to identify, assess, and mitigate workplace hazards is crucial for the EHS Coordinator. This includes conducting thorough inspections, identifying potential risks, and implementing effective safety protocols and programs to prevent accidents or environmental damage.

  • Environmental and Safety Program Management:

Responsible for implementing and managing safety and environmental programs within the organization. This includes designing, monitoring, and continuously improving safety protocols, training programs, and environmental initiatives.

  • Focusing on detail is crucial in ensuring that safety protocols are strictly followed and that all environmental, health, and safety regulations are accurately implemented.

  • Understand EHS system, knowledgeable in using and maintaining EHS360 application.

  • Effective communication is essential for educating and training employees on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and environmental policies.

  • Strong problem-solving skills to address any safety incidents, environmental issues, or violations that may arise. This includes investigating accidents, analyzing root causes, and proposing corrective actions.

  • Excellent English communication (verbal and written), presentation, and interpersonal skills, along with a high level of professionalism, honesty, and integrity.

  • Report to HR & EHS Manager.

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Adopt a positive approach to building a sustainable Sandvik Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) culture within the workplace.

  • Conduct yourself in accordance with Sandvik EHS's Vision to achieve Zero Harm to our people, the environment we work in, our customers, and our suppliers.

  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and ensure that your actions do not adversely affect the environment or the health and safety of any other person in the workplace.

  • Comply with all aspects of the Sandvik Environment, Health & Safety Policy, and any reasonable instructions, procedures, or systems of work that are given in the interest of providing safe work practices in the workplace and eliminating environmental harm.

  • Identify and report any unsafe work behaviors/practices, hazards, and incidents immediately.

  • The person in this position committed to comply with the implementation of Sandvik global EHS policy, ISO 14001/45001, and SMKP according to its authority.

EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.

  • More than 4 years in EHS, EHS system, or relevant experience.

  • Proficient skill in English with written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in using Microsoft office.

  • Strong attention to detail with organizers and time management skills.

  • Can-Do attitude.

  • Ability to travel locally and regionally if required, and willing to be stationed on all SMCI work area / sites all over Indonesia.
