Manufacturing Engineer

In this position, you’ll…

Overview
This role involves creating precise programs for CNC 5-axis milling machines and lathes, ensuring the highest quality standards in production. The Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate with engineers and machinists to optimize manufacturing processes and improve efficiency. Our facility currently has Haas vertical mills with 5-axis trunnion tables, Hass 5-axis horizontal mill, Mori-Seiki, Doosan, Kingston lathes all with Fanuc controls. This will be an on-site, 5 days a week position

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement CNC programs for 5-axis milling and lathe operations using Mastercam software

  • Help with the design and implementation of new fixtures for product lines

  • Utilize CAD/CAM software for programming and simulation of machining operations.

  • Conduct setups with machinist on any new programs on the CNC machines, ensuring proper tooling and fixtures are in place.

  • Perform quality checks using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).

  • Apply GD&T principles to ensure compliance with design specifications.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing manager and quality manager to identify opportunities for lean manufacturing improvements.

  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to optimize performance.

  • Collaborate with machinists, quality, and engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to programming, tooling, and machining processes.

  • Validate and verify CNC programs for accuracy prior to release to the shop floor.

  • Maintain documentation of programming changes, setups, and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in CNC programming with experience in both CNC 5-axis milling machines and lathes.

  • Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software including Mastercam, SolidWorks, Featurecam, and familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.

  • Experience with Haas and Fanuc controls is a must.

  • Solid understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) practices.

  • Mechanical knowledge with the ability to read schematics and blueprints effectively.

  • Familiarity with tooling requirements and geometry calculations for various machining operations.

  • Excellent math skills for precision measurements and calculations related to machining processes.

  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work in a production style environment.
