Job profile

As Mechanical Engineer you are responsible for Design and Development of Sub-systems in a mining equipment by creating optimized CAD models and manufacturing drawings with the BoM to ensure highest quality of deliverables. This job involves providing engineering support to various Divisions within Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology in Current Product Engineering, New Product Development Engineering and Order based Engineering activities.

The main responsibilities are as follows:

  • Involve yourself in the design and development of mechanical sub-systems and make component selections.
  • Creation of 3D models, drawings for manufacturing and assembly using the ECR/ECN process and maintaining BoM for an assembly using Teamcenter
  • Ensure the highest quality of deliverables.
  • Collaborate with Global Product engineering teams to understand their needs and propose possible solutions.
  • Communicate the progress and results of assigned projects regularly to key decision makers.
  • Improving processes through continual improvement.

Your profile

You have a university degree in Mechanical engineering / master’s in mechanical engineering (or equivalent) and between 4-8 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering design and development with minimum 2 years’ experience in the Mobile equipment domain.

You need to have relevant experience, as per the following:

  • Design and Application knowledge of mobile equipment, preferably in drilling equipment
  • Good in Mechanical engineering fundamentals and Engineering concepts.
  • Perform calculations to determine the section/size of structural components.
  • Hands-on experience working with Sheetmetal components and Welded structures.
  • Understanding of machine steel fabrications, manufacturing techniques and processes.
  • Good understanding of common engineering standards for mobile equipment product development.
  • Knowledge of the design of Powertrain, Hydraulics, Cooling System etc. is an added advantage.
  • Hands-on experience in creating medium-to-complex Manufacturing and Assembly drawings applying GD&T.
  • Analytical Thinking skills.
  • Team work and clear communication skills.
  • Proficient in UG NX and Teamcenter PLM.
