Application and Sales Support Engineer

Acquired by Sandvik in February 2023, and operating within Seco, we are a customer focused business who strive to bring innovative and complete end to end solutions to the metal cutting sector.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Application and Sales Support Engineer. This role is crucial in bridging the gap between our cutting-edge machine tool technologies and our valued customers, providing expert technical support, conducting product demonstrations, and assisting the sales team in achieving their targets.
Job Responsibilities
Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
Provide in-depth technical support to customers regarding the operation, programming, and maintenance of our machine tools (e.g., CNC milling, turning, grinding machines). Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, either remotely or on-site, ensuring minimal downtime for customers.
Product Demonstrations & Training:
Conduct compelling product demonstrations and presentations for prospective and existing customers, showcasing the capabilities and benefits of our machine tools. Develop and deliver comprehensive technical training programs for customer personnel on machine operation, programming, and advanced features.
Sales Team Collaboration:
Work closely with the sales team to understand customer requirements, recommend appropriate machine tool solutions, and develop technical proposals.
Application Engineering:
Collaborate with customers to optimise machining processes, develop new applications, and improve overall productivity using our machine tools. Provide expert advice on tooling, fixturing, and machining parameters.
Market Feedback & Product Development:
Gather and analyse customer feedback on product performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Communicate market needs and trends to the sales team to influence future product enhancements.
Installation & Commissioning Support:
Provide technical assistance during machine installation and commissioning phases, ensuring smooth integration into customer facilities.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, technical issues, and solutions. Generate regular reports on support activities, customer satisfaction, and sales support effectiveness.
Travel:
Willingness to travel frequently within Ireland to customer sites for support, demonstrations, and training.
Job Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an application engineering, field service, or technical support role within the machine tool industry.
Proven experience with CNC programming (G-code, M-code) and operation of various machine tools (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders).
Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam, Fusion 360) is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials.
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and control system issues on machine tools.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
Strong presentation and demonstration skills.
Ability to build rapport and strong relationships with customers and colleagues.
Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills:
Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a methodical approach to identifying and resolving issues.
Strong analytical skills to assess customer needs and recommend optimal solutions.
Other Requirements:
Valid driver's license and a willingness to travel extensively within Ireland.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Results-oriented with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
