The Role: Reliability Engineer.
Reliability Engineer will be responsible for improving the reliability and performance of Sandvik mobile equipment deployed at a platinum mining operation in Zimbabwe.
Support predictive and preventive maintenance strategies, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with both Sandvik and client personnel to drive continuous improvement in equipment availability and operational efficiency.
Key Performance Areas:
- Analyse equipment performance data and identify trends, patterns, and reliability issues.
- Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for major breakdowns and recurring failures.
- Develop and implement proactive maintenance strategies in collaboration with the site maintenance team.
- Work closely with OEM product support and service teams to address technical issues.
- Monitor component life cycles and recommend replacements or upgrades to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Participate in planning of component rebuilds, overhauls, and major repairs.
- Train and support mine personnel on reliability best practices and Sandvik systems (e.g., My Sandvik, OptiMine).
- Maintain detailed records and reports on equipment performance and reliability initiatives.
- Promote a strong culture of safety and compliance in all activities.
Your Profile:
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a reliability, maintenance, or technical support role within the mining sector.
- Previous experience with Sandvik underground mobile equipment (e.g., LHDs, drills, trucks) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with condition monitoring technologies and maintenance planning tools (e.g., SAP, AMT, Pronto).
- Strong understanding of reliability principles such as RCM, FMEA, and LCC.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Willingness to work in a remote mine site environment on a rotational basis if required.
