Special Insert Designer (m/f/d)

At Sandvik Coromant’s design offices, we design solutions to support orders for special or engineered products, using the latest design methods and processes. We are now looking for a Special Insert Designer for the Customized Solution Design Hub Düsseldorf, who will focus on Special insert Solutions – someone who wants to actively contribute to our customers’ success. The location for this position is Düsseldorf, Germany.

Your challenge

In this position, you are responsible for handling quotation and manufacturing design requests for special products, primarily related for Inserts ind area turning , milling drilling and broaching and threading and some special profile. Your mission is to ensure that customer demands are fulfilled through development of cost-effective and innovative customized solutions, and you select design tools, methods and approaches according to established working procedures. You develop concepts for function- and production-oriented special inserts that comply with the latest technical findings as well as our sales and execution guidelines. You are working independently and on your own initiative on projects and you create design documents (3D models, customer and production drawings) to solve customer-specific machining problems.

You will be able to control your own work processes with regard to the constructive and technical drawing elaboration as well as to committed deadlines. As a team player you support colleagues professionally in a global working environment. You are also in close communication with your manager at all times. Based on your experience, you are able to identify potential issues and, if necessary, propose appropriate solutions.

Your character

We are looking for someone with solid background as a technical draftsman or technical product designer as well as further training as a technician or mechanical engineer specializing in design. You have several years’ design experience within the metal cutting business. You have relevant product, applications and market awareness and good understanding of metal cutting processes and cutting tool application. Extensive experience in CAD designing and understanding of the principles of manufacturing specific design are necessities in this position. Preferably good knowledge of our CAD system (Siemens NX), basic knowledge in CAM programming and SAP would be expedient.

In addition, you have good business and technical communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
