Machining Specialist
Location: Ideal location of the applicant would be Lansing, Saginaw, Mt Pleasant or surrounding areas
Territory covered: Michigan lower peninsula

Key performance areas
In this dynamic role, you will work as a technical expert supporting Customers to provide solutions and develop opportunities to meet our company’s sales growth goals.
Main duties and responsibilities:
The Machining Specialist provides expert technical support to end users of machining technology by solving problems, demonstrating techniques, and providing training. This position will work directly with customers as well as provide support for the sales team. The position requires travel within the Michigan lower peninsula.
Sales Territory Management
- Manages customer requests and business issues within a complex and global matrix organization, serving as a liaison between customers and company departments
- Builds strong customer relationships and secures customer commitment and service excellence.
- Executes global and local pricing strategies within all sales activities
- Ensures pre-meeting plans and preparations with customers to secure efficient negotiation results
- Maintains existing market shares and hunts for new business opportunities
- Promotes the competitive advantage of Sandvik Coromant products and advanced solutions, highlighting differentiating advantages of the company’s Total Value Chain Offer
Technical Competence
- Executes delivery of expert technical solutions and sales support to end-customers and distributors to grow the share of wallet within territory and customer base
- Recommends products and services that fit well with customers’ business needs
- Troubleshoots, investigates, and resolves technical problems that arise
- Delivers training to educate external partners and customers on new product releases and features
- Documents applied products and services performance and cost savings results using Productivity Analyzer software
- Performs mathematical calculations applicable to product applications and sales statistics
- Advanced knowledge of CNC mills and lathes. Expert ability to read and understand NC code
- Ability to interpret a blueprint, identifying constraints which could limit tool selection based on GD&T
- Experience working in a variety of CNC environments in various industry segments like Auto, Medical, Aerospace, General Engineering.

- Ambassador for driving new ways of working and future technology within field of expertise to ensure customers’ needs are fulfilled and profitable business is gained
- Accountable to ensure successful opportunities are qualified and the appropriate products are applied in a first-class manner to maximize Sandvik Coromant’s market share and profitable business
- Leads customer projects from start to finish while coordinating with all internal stakeholders, partners, and customers
- Takes responsibility and control for the high-quality performance of the job duties
- Applies a structured and organized business orientated approach to daily work using the digital tools within Office 365
- Displays expert technical knowledge of metal cutting tools knowledge and application experience
- Consistently improves knowledge of the Sandvik Coromant Offer and quality of production, new tools and technologies to increase professional development
- Regularly attends sales and product training, both independently and as defined by the company
Your profile
- Five or more years’ experience in real world manufacturing with cutting tool experience and technical knowledge
- Degree or equivalent qualification in mechanical/manufacturing engineering or related field
- Proven track record in delivering good business results
- Strong execution capabilities, able to create synergy, collaborate and gain commitment
- Experience managing external and internal customer relationships in accordance with commercial and technical terms and conditions
- Relevant experience from CAD/CAM and application knowledge is an advantage
- Project management knowledge is an advantage
- Skilled communicator, presenter, and negotiator in the English language, verbally and in writing
- Must possess a current driver’s license valid for his/her state of primary residence
- Applicant must be a US citizen
