Key Responsibilities
Training Delivery
Deliver standardized training courses on mining equipment and digital systems relating to:
- Operation
- Maintenance
- Service
- Service inspection
- Installation and commissioning
- Faultfinding and troubleshooting
- Deliver classroom, practical, and field-based technical training programs, for Surface and underground equipment.
- Facilitate product and system safety training for all automation and digital platforms.
- Conduct artisan, technician, and supervisory training on automation systems and machine technologies.
- Ensure training is aligned to OEM standards, mine procedures, and customer operational requirements.
- Develop training schedules, lesson plans, presentations, assessments, and practical exercises.
- Conduct learner assessments and competency evaluations.
- Maintain accurate training records, reports, attendance registers, and competency matrices.
Technical Systems & Platforms
Provide training and technical support on the following systems and technologies:
Automine systems
Proximity Detection Systems (PDS)
SICA platform
GPS and positioning technologies
TIM 3D systems
RMS Remote Monitoring Systems
I-Sure, Driller’s office software (drill planning systems)
Trimble technologies
Mine automation and digital control systems
Machine networking and communication systems
Mining machine-to-server integration
Wireless mine communication infrastructure
Data acquisition and monitoring systems
Fleet management and machine telemetry systems
Technical Support Responsibilities
Assist sites with diagnostics and system performance analysis.
Support machine connectivity and communication between equipment and Mine servers.
Assist with software updates, configuration, and system optimization.
Work closely with OEM technical support teams and mine personnel to resolve technical issues.
Safety Responsibilities
Promote and maintain a strong safety culture at all times.
Ensure all training activities comply with mine health and safety standards.
Deliver product safety training related to operation, maintenance, servicing, commissioning, and faultfinding.
Ensure learners understand safe work procedures and risk controls associated with automation systems and mining equipment.
Conduct risk assessments prior to practical training activities.
General Responsibilities
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the training department.
Keep technical knowledge updated with latest mining technologies and automation developments.
Assist with development of training material and technical documentation.
Provide feedback regarding equipment performance and training gaps identified on site.
Liaise with technical departments, and OEM representatives.
Travel to customer sites as required.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
Trade Test in Electrical, Millwright or Instrumentation.
Minimum 5 years mining equipment experience.
Exposure to underground or surface mining operations.
Advantageous
Experience working with automation and digital mining systems.
Experience in technical training within mining or heavy equipment environment.
Training/Facilitation qualification.
OEM certification on automation systems.
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of:
Mining automation systems
Machine communication networks
CAN Bus systems
PLC systems
Machine diagnostics and faultfinding
Remote monitoring technologies
Digital mining infrastructure
Networking fundamentals and server integration
Electrical and electronic systems on mining equipment
