We are seeking a Project Manager to join our team.
JOB PURPOSE
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering projects safely, on time, within scope, and within budget, in line with Sandvik standards and customer expectations.
This role ensures effective coordination of people, processes, contractors, and resources to deliver project outcomes while maintaining the highest standards of Environment, Health & Safety, quality, and financial performance, in accordance with Sandvik policies, Mongolian regulations, and site‑specific rules.
ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY (EHS)
- Ensure full compliance with Sandvik and Client Environment, Health & Safety Management Plans.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure projects are executed without unnecessary risk.
- Ensure all project activities comply with Client and Sandvik procedures, work instructions, risk assessments, and permit systems.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety reviews related to project activities.
- Ensure all personnel and contractors receive appropriate EHS induction, training, and supervision.
- Actively participate in safety communication, consultation, and incident reporting processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Delivery & Execution
- Plan, manage, and deliver assigned projects from initiation to close‑out.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in line with contractual requirements.
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Monitor project progress, manage risks, issues, and change requests.
- Ensure quality standards and technical requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure effective execution.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Control project costs and ensure delivery within approved budgets.
- Monitor revenue, cost forecasting, WIP, and project financial performance.
- Support accurate and timely invoicing and financial reporting.
- Identify risks impacting project profitability and implement mitigation actions.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Client representatives and key stakeholders.
- Act as the primary point of contact for project‑related communication.
- Provide regular project status updates, progress reports, and risk summaries.
- Support continuous improvement of customer satisfaction and contract performance.
People Management & Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and coordinate project teams to achieve project objectives.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and development of project personnel.
- Encourage collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within project teams.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and performance‑driven work environment.
Continuous Improvement & Systems
- Drive the application of Lean and Continuous Improvement practices within project delivery.
- Ensure effective use of systems (e.g. SAP or equivalent) for project reporting and control.
- Capture lessons learned and support implementation of improvement initiatives across projects.
TECHNICAL & PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ensure project activities align with Sandvik technical standards and specifications.
- Maintain awareness of Sandvik products, technologies, and project delivery methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with mining, construction, and engineering standards applicable to underground and surface environments.
EXPERIENCE
- Relevant trade qualification or tertiary qualification in Engineering, Project Management, or Business/Administration (minimum requirement).
- 5+ years’ experience in Project Management, preferably within mining, maintenance, or heavy mobile equipment environments.
- Experience in managing multi‑disciplinary teams and contractors.
- Exposure to underground and/or surface mining operations is an advantage.
- Experience working in multicultural and remote site environments.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of Year 12 (minimum)
- Trade Certificate or Engineering qualification
- Project Management qualification (e.g. Diploma, PMP, PRINCE2 – desirable)
- Business or Financial Management qualification (desirable)
LICENCES & CERTIFICATES
- Relevant trade or technical qualification (as applicable to project scope)
- Workplace training and assessment qualifications (desirable)
- Valid site and safety certifications required for OT operations
