Parts & Services Logistics – Our Function and Culture

Logistics is an essential support arm for multiple divisions within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions and manages 30 Warehouses (6 Hubs + 24 Satellites) in 17 distinct countries and 5 continents. Key to our central activity and role is providing proactive, worldwide, logistical expertise and timely delivery of essential after sales parts to our customers across the globe.

Based on the variety of functions performed in Parts & Services Logistics, there are numerous opportunities for career advancement in areas including Warehousing, Order Management, Inventory Management, Freight, Supplier Management, Logistics Transformation and Supply Chain Information Systems. These key functions support the activities which collectively are providing and delivering the right product to the right customer at the right time.

We are now recruiting for a Trade Compliance Specialist (Hybrid) - for a permanent role in our Dublin Office.

JOB PURPOSE

The Trade Compliance Specialist is a crucial role within the Sandvik Mining and Construction Logistics Ltd (SMCL) Trade Compliance Team. The key purpose of the role is to support all business divisions related to cross – border transactions to ensure achievement of goals and objectives through consistent oversight of all goods imported and exported on Sandvik’s behalf. This role will help ensure that global transactions are undertaken in compliance with export/import laws, regulations and controls administered by the local government agencies. The role is also responsible for ensuring that the correct Country of Origin is applied to transactions and that Free Trade Agreements are used accurately.

This position will demand constant concentration on global customs regulation frameworks such as harmonized tariff schedules, customs valuations, import VAT rules, Free Trade Agreements and various other matters.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acquire and maintain sound knowledge of business operations to identify and mitigate trade compliance risk whilst analysing potential mitigation options.
  • Create, update and maintain processes, procedures and policies related to trade compliance.
  • Interact with key stakeholders to ensure full support of the operations.
  • Execute Sandvik’s Global Trade compliance vision, metrics and achievements to key Stakeholders and Leadership on a regular basis.
  • Be aware of changes in trade laws, determine impacts on the company and disseminate knowledge to relevant stakeholders across the organization.
  • Research legal regulatory requirements and ensure legal compliance within government rules and regulations.
  • When necessary, prepare paperwork required for import, processes with trade compliance attributes.
  • Demonstrate control of exports to meet compliance audits and other company standards - conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance with procedures.
  • Responsible for Trade system activities (reports, screening, clearance instructions).
  • Work cross functionally with legal, regulatory, finance, quality, IT, R&D, and operations teams to achieve Sandvik’s mission, vision and objectives.
  • Assist in acting as first point of contact between Customs and Sandvik’s entities.
  • Provide expertise with Trade Compliance for export and import activities.
  • Perform tariff classification of products for export in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Ensure that procedures related to trade regulations and reporting requirements are in place for all appropriate areas of responsibility and personnel at manufacturing sites.
  • Investigate and gather information to create reports for potential or verified matters of non-compliance.
  • Engage legal departments in the implementation of Trade Compliance programs and related documentation.
  • Manage SAP GTS and align implementation with future potential changes to the overall Trade Compliance process.
  • For Sanctioned Party List (SPL) – maintain lists and the rules of the automation in SAP GTS. Conduct periodic checks to ensure possible matches are not the same business partner as SPL Listing.
  • Embargo screening and block process
  • Management of licenses requirements for divisions
  • Conduct custom post- entry, preference and procedure.
  • Understanding and optimizing Free Trade Agreements, maintain Free Trade Agreement lists, including use of SAP GTS (LTVD, BOM analysis, amongst others).
  • Manage Country of Origin from suppliers and maintenance.
  • Other Ad hoc duties as requested by management.

Experience

  • 3-5 years trade compliance experience with international trade responsibilities is preferred
  • Knowledge of SPL screening blocks and searches
  • Knowledge of export control blocks and manage licenses
  • Knowledge of ECCN classification
  • Experience in the use of FTA agreements and rules of origin calculations
  • Worked with long-term suppliers’ declarations process and legalities
  • SAP GTS end-user experience preferred

Education, Licenses & Certificates

  • Educated to degree level
  • Certification in Customs and/or Trade Affairs
