Central Maintenance Planner

We are seeking aCentral Maintenance Planner x 1 based in UB:
JOB PURPOSE:
This role is responsible for managing centralized maintenance planning systems and processes to ensure both internal and external customer satisfaction. It ensures compliance with contractual requirements, promotes preventative maintenance best practices, and provides planning support across the region. The Central Maintenance Planner develops, maintains, and continuously improves job plans, preventative maintenance (PM) tasks, and schedules for new and existing Sandvik surface and underground equipment. The role works closely with site maintenance teams to align regional standards with localized operational needs.

Asset Management
Ensure Asset Agreement Sites have the appropriate tools & training to manage maintenance planning processes. This includes:
- Assist workshop planners with service scheduling
- Managing stores / stock holding requirements to meet plan
- Production of job plans including JSA and MSDS requirements
- Managing Condition Monitoring
- Conduct fleet planning defect analysis and constantly review maintenance envelope for improvement
- Assist in Site management of backlog and work in progress (WIP)
- Conduct site Audits
Manage fleet planning 3 months in advance and liaise with the Site Managers & Operations Managers to ensure plan optimization. Ensure that CMMS processes are followed on time and that resource planning aligns with the fleet schedule.
- Tailor the CMMS system to each site and maintain accurate equipment register.
- Track all components and maintenance through the CMMS system.
- Develop mechanical maintenance plans for all site equipment in accordance with contract requirements.
- Customize and develop Preventative Maintenance to suit site weekly and quarterly planning needs
- CMMS upkeep
- Assist Global Maximo team to set up CMMS IAS and Equipment Structure
- Directly link condition monitoring to the CMMS
- Seeking feedback from Asset Agreement sites & National Product Support team to enable improvements to Maintenance Management Plans
Collaboration with Lifetime Support / Planner and Continuous Improvement Team
- Assist in the development of LCC, Generic Maintenance and Unit Rate models as required
- Assist Lifecycle planner with ad hoc requests from Account Management.
- Provide ad hoc reporting and machine data for purposes of analysis
IT
- Provide helpdesk support for CMMS users on remote sites.
- Monitor & maintain data integrity of the CMMS system
- Direct escalation of issues to the relevant IT specialist.
- Assist in the development of SQL & Actuate reports to meet business & user requirements.
Reporting
- Preparation of Reports and Presentations
- Reporting, document preparation and presentation
Financials
- Ensure all costs are captured within CMMS.
- Assist in the preparation of quotes for major works.
- Assist Management in developing site maintenance budgets.
- Provide Management with monthly reporting and information analysis.
- Review the maintenance costs regularly in close liaison with the Operations Managers & Site Managers with a view to continually improving cost efficiencies for the contract.
Technical Expertise
- Maintain and expand product knowledge of Sandvik products, e.g. loaders, trucks, drills and consumables.
- An understanding of oil sampling techniques and analysis.
General
- Develop and manage small projects
- Assist Contracts Administrative team to meet site requirements
- Carry out duties as instructed by your manager to assist in the running of the Asset Agreement and Contracts / Tenders team
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field (preferred)
- Trade qualifications with extensive underground mobile maintenance experience considered
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ Maintenance Planning and Scheduling experience
- Previous CMMS management skills, (Maximo)
- Relevant trade qualification is a minimum requirement
- At least 5 years’ experience in mining or heavy earthmoving equipment maintenance is a distinct advantage.
- A sound understanding of Mine Health and Safety Regulations is desirable.
- Knowledge of and experience with SMC products will be an advantage.
- An understanding of customer business processes.
- An understanding of the mining industry.
- Proven experience with maintenance planning systems or computerized maintenance management systems
- Experience or exposure to Failure Analysis and Failure Coding methodologies
- A proven record in report writing skills.
- Superior standard of interpersonal skills and leadership qualities, which will contribute to teamwork.
