The Role: Workshop Planner
The Workshop Planner is responsible for optimizing maintenance and repair activities within Sandvik Mining and Construction Zimbabwe's workshop, ensuring efficient resource utilization, timely completion of jobs, and adherence to quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will help ensure optimal resource utilization, improved equipment availability, and adherence to our high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Performance Areas:
- Develop and implement detailed workshop schedules, including preventative maintenance, corrective repairs, and component overhauls.
- Coordinate and prioritize work orders, allocating tasks to technicians according to workload, capability, and availability.
- Estimate labour hours, material requirements, and equipment needs for each job.
- Manage procurement and tracking of spare parts and consumables to maintain optimal stock levels and reduce downtime.
- Monitor job progress, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and equipment history.
- Work closely with production, supply chain, and engineering teams to streamline workshop processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Prepare regular reports on workshop performance, including key metrics such as turnaround times and cost efficiency.
Your Profile:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a workshop planning or maintenance planning role, preferably within the mining or heavy equipment industry.
- Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) software.
- Strong understanding of maintenance principles, planning methodologies, and scheduling tools.
- Excellent organizational the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Knowledge of Sandvik equipment and products is an added advantage.
