Drives Mechanical Assembly Fitter

We are looking for a committed individual to join our team as a Mechanical Assembly Fitter.
The role will report into the Drives Manager. The role will be based from our offices in Spartan, Kempton Park, Johannesburg.
Purpose of the role:
To perform manufacturing operations in assembling, testing, assessing, stripping, cleaning and repairing of vibratory equipment.
The job responsibilities:
- To meet daily output targets.
- Daily progress reports.
- Daily report of component requirements.
- Continuous monitoring of quality of parts and reporting of any defects.
- Good housekeeping skills related to work environment, tools and equipment.
- Responsible of assembly / testing and recording data of all vibrating equipment, to the highest standard.
- Responsible of stripping, inspecting and recording data of all vibrating equipment
- Maintenance of equipment according to quality control standards.
- Effective management of assets.
- Performing of installations, commissioning and service duties, on/off-site.
- Suggest and implement assembly, stripping or testing improvements.
- Ability to compile written technical reports.
- Assessing incoming spares and components (old and new).
- Use speciality tools for assessment purposes e.g., micrometres.
- Responsible to stay within the allowable hours per job given by Management and to put steps in place to mitigate any over run-on hours due to breakdowns or other work stoppages.
- Responsible to check the quality of the completed work prior handing it over
- Responsible to give clear instructions to your team members and co-workers.
- Responsible to maintain and repair electronic and mechanical equipment where possible and to report any faulty equipment to your manager.
- Responsible to take care of all equipment issued and used by you.
- Responsible to know how to operate tools and to see that they are well maintained.
- Responsible to strip new and old Vibrating Equipment that needs to be repaired.
- Responsible to strip, clean and access components.
- Responsible to assemble and test Vibrating Equipment to Kwatani specifications.
- Ensure that working area is clean and neat and free of safety hazards within required limits.
- Responsible to execute tasks given by supervisor / manager in the correct way to ensure adherence to the expected standards set by the Company.
- Responsible to check the quality of the completed work prior handing it over.
- Responsible to maintain good housekeeping in your work areas on a continuous basis.
- Responsible to provide guidance and expert advice to co-workers on technical related topics.
- Responsible to coach and develop or otherwise help others in working environment.
- Responsible to operate within the health and safety requirements prescribed by Kwatani and OHS Act and to report any accident, injury or near miss that could have resulted in an accident to your Manager.
- Responsible to operate overhead cranes within the safety parameters.
- Responsible to operate Forklift within the safety parameters.
- Responsible to apply different identification colours to all vibrating equipment.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
- Grade 12 /Matric Certificate or equivalent
- Completed Fitter Trade Test
- Valid driver’s license
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an assembly environment.
- Specific experience on plant / heavy equipment gearboxes.

- Basic understanding of vibrating equipment and engineering drawings.
