Job Summary
Sandvik is seeking applications from motivated individuals for Workshop Supervisor based in Balikpapan, Indonesia.
The role is responsible for leading and supervising workshop operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality rebuild and repair activities. The Workshop Supervisor will coordinate personnel, resources, and workflow to achieve operational targets, maintain compliance with safety and quality standards, optimize equipment availability, and support the continuous development of workshop employees while ensuring customer expectations are met.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Workshop Operations Management
Supervise daily workshop activities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality maintenance and repair operations.
Planning and Execution
Coordinate manpower, resources, and job schedules to achieve productivity and delivery targets.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
Ensure compliance with quality standards and drive continuous improvements in workshop performance.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure timely resolution of operational and service issues.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
Track workshop KPIs, analyzes performance data, and provide operational reports to support business objectives.
People Leadership & Development
Lead, coach, and develop workshop personnel while managing performance and workforce effectiveness.
Financial & Cost Control
Monitor workshop costs, labor utilization, inventory, and invoicing to support profitability and operational efficiency.
COLLABORATION WITH OTHER BUSINESS LINE
The role works within a matrix organization and collaborates closely with Parts, Service, Supply Chain, Finance, Contracts, Product Support, Business Line Managers, and regional or global support functions.
The position will work closely with workshop personnel, field service team, planning, warehouse, and customer teams to ensure safe, efficient, and timely execution of rebuild and repair activities while meeting operational and customer expectations.
The position reports directly to the Parts and Services Sales Manager and works closely with site teams, service supervisors, and customer support functions.
SUPERVISION/MANAGE/ACT AS A COACH
Provide guidance and support to workshop personnel and internal stakeholders to ensure maintenance activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with operational requirements and company standards.

Ensure EHS leadership is integrated into strategic planning, decision-making, and organizational objectives.
Provide adequate resources, policies, and systems to support EHS performance and continual improvement.
Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across all levels to drive sustainable EHS performance.
Regularly review EHS performance metrics and lead improvement initiatives based on trends, audits, and incidents.
Ensure effective communication of EHS priorities and expectations to all employees, contractors, and stakeholders.
Demonstrate exemplary EHS behavior and ensure the organization complies with Sandvik global EHS Policy, ISO 14001/45001, and SMKP requirements.
Empower all employees to stop and report any work that appears unsafe or could cause harm, without fear of retaliation.
PREFERRED ENVIRONMENT & MOBILITY
The role is primarily based at the Sandvik workshop in Balikpapan and includes regular interaction with customers representative, maintenance facilities, warehouses, and Sandvik operational locations.
The successful candidate must be willing to travel regularly to customer sites within Indonesia and, when required, within Sandvik’s regional business area.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in workshop operations, equipment maintenance, rebuilds, or product support within the mining, heavy equipment, or related industries, including 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
Sound understanding of mining and heavy equipment maintenance practices, component rebuild and repair, troubleshooting, workshop operations, and resource planning.
Strong technical background in heavy equipment, mining equipment, drilling rigs, and underground mining machinery, with the ability to provide technical guidance and support to maintenance teams.
Proven experience in leading workshop teams, coordinating maintenance activities, and managing workloads to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and cost objectives.
Good understanding of workshop planning, labor utilization, inventory control, job costing, and operational performance management.
Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively engage with employees, customers, and internal stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, make sound operational decisions, and work collaboratively across functions in a fast-paced environment.
Intermediate English proficiency, both written and spoken.
