UG Product Support Technician

PRODUCT SUPPORT TECHNICIAN (Kamoa site)

Sandvik DRC Services is a Sales Unit based in Lubumbashi within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, a Business Area and a leading supplier of equipment, tools, services, and support for the mining industry. We also provide solutions and expertise across a wide range of applications, including rock drilling, rock cutting, loading and hauling, tunnelling, and quarrying.

Your mission

As a Technician, you will be responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, inspections, and commissioning activities on Sandvik equipment, both in the workshop and at customer sites. You will deliver high-quality technical support with a strong customer focus, ensuring operational reliability and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • Execute maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on equipment (including 2nd line support root cause analysis)

  • Perform system adjustments, commissioning, and product testing

  • Support new product introductions, upgrades, and ramp-down of legacy equipment

  • Provide aftermarket technical support to customers and internal stakeholders

  • Collect and report technical feedback to improve products and processes

  • Contribute to operational readiness and large project execution

  • Deliver technical training, coaching, and knowledge transfer

  • Identify recurring issues and proactively develop solutions

  • Ensure compliance with Sandvik SHEQ standards, safety policies, and applicable regulations

  • Identify and report unsafe practices and promote a strong safety culture

Business and customer focus

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through quality service delivery

  • Identify service improvement opportunities and support business growth

  • Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Parts & Services, Projects) to optimise customer outcomes

Your profile

  • Diploma or Trade Certificate in Engineering or a related field

  • 4–6+ years’ experience in mining equipment maintenance (surface or underground)

  • Experience with Sandvik or similar OEM equipment is an advantage

  • Strong mechanical and/or auto-electrical knowledge

  • Ability to read technical drawings and troubleshoot equipment issues

  • Good computer skills and reporting ability

  • Fluency in English and French
