The Role
We are looking for a proactive Workshop Planner who will be responsible for all planning activities in the Workshop and for short-term interventions carried out on customer sites. The Workshop planner also takes overall responsibility for all tools and equipment in the Workshop, ensuring that required tools and equipment are available for efficient execution of jobs in and out of the Workshop. You will also ensure that all tools and equipment are maintained, certified and calibrated to required standards and best practices. You will work closely with supervisors, technicians, and stores to keep jobs on track, ensure quality standards are met, and help drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Developing accurate and efficient maintenance and rebuild plans to support operational continuity.
- Planning and preparing repair, rebuild, and component exchange schedules for both workshop and site-based activities.
- Defining job scope, sequencing, task durations, and required resources for each work package.
- Collaborating with maintenance, operations, and supply chain teams to align plans with production requirements.
- Forecasting parts requirements for equipment and component rebuilds in coordination with backline support to ensure availability and workflow continuity.
- Ensuring all parts, tools, and resources are available, proactively expediting where potential delays are identified.
- Monitoring and coordinating the progress of repair and rebuild activities to ensure timely and efficient completion.
- Maintaining accurate records, reports, and status updates, providing clear communication to all relevant stakeholders.
- Overseeing workshop tools and equipment, ensuring availability, proper maintenance, calibration, and certification compliance.
- Optimizing labor utilization through effective coordination with workshop supervisors, administrators, and resource planning processes.
- Ensuring full compliance with SHEQ standards by embedding safety and quality requirements into all work packages.
- Driving continuous improvement in planning practices, maintenance performance, and overall workshop efficiency.

Qualification & Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree or Trade Qualification in Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a relevant industry.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the mining industry and its processes.
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and 5S practices.
- High level of responsiveness and accountability.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills.
- High level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in the use of databases and computerized systems.
