Application Analyst - Technical

Application Analyst - Technical
Location: Eindhoven (Netherlands) or Chicago (USA)

Division: Parts & Services – Business Area Mining
Sandvik Business Area Mining is a global leader in equipment, tools, service and technical solutions for the mining and construction industries. Our constantly evolving offering spans rock drilling, rock cutting, loading and hauling, crushing and screening, tunnelling and demolition. Whatever the terrain, material or ground hardness – we engineer solutions that make mining and rock excavation safer, smarter and more productive. We are now looking for an Application Analyst (Technical) to join our global Parts & Services Logistics team and help drive the technical depth of our supply chain systems.

Job purpose
We are seeking a technically strong Application Analyst to join our Application Management team. This role is primarily technical in nature – the right candidate will have a solid foundation in SQL, MySQL, Oracle, and MOCA scripting, and will apply that expertise to support, maintain, and improve our Blue Yonder WMS and TMS application environments.

Blue Yonder WMS is the core application focus of this role. The candidate is expected to have strong hands-on WMS knowledge – including backend configuration, data structures, and the ability to work directly in the WMS database layer. Blue Yonder TMS knowledge is a strong advantage. While deep functional TMS configuration expertise is not required, candidates should possess a good understanding of TMS backend architecture, database structures, job configuration concepts, and integration points between TMS and WMS environments. This is particularly valuable as our TMS platform transitions from Oracle to MySQL.

The ideal candidate is someone who is equally comfortable writing complex SQL queries, debugging MOCA scripts, analysing application data, troubleshooting integrations, and collaborating with warehouse and transportation operations teams to resolve business and system challenges. This role requires a balance of application knowledge and technical expertise, with strong emphasis on SQL, databases, MOCA development, integrations, and backend troubleshooting across Blue Yonder WMS and TMS platforms.

Main responsibilities

  • Write, maintain, and optimise SQL/MySQL queries and MOCA scripts to support WMS operations, investigate data issues, and resolve system problems at the backend layer – this is a core and daily part of the role
  • Work directly within the Blue Yonder WMS environment – understanding data structures, configuration tables, and system behaviour at the application layer
  • Support Blue Yonder TMS at the backend level – understanding TMS data models, configuration, and the WMS-TMS integration layer; understanding of Oracle-to-MySQL databases for TMS
  • Good understanding and hands-on experience with WMS MOCA development and configuration, together with knowledge of TMS job configuration, backend processing, and scheduling concepts.
  • Act as application owner and system administrator as part of the Application Management team, supporting global continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring solution stability and governance.
  • Manage regional and global templates, acting as gatekeeper of the solution to ensure it does not stray from the standard upgrade path
  • Continuously fine-tune WMS and TMS system configuration to align with evolving operational requirements
  • Ensure requests for service, system support, and system developments are addressed appropriately and in a timely and professional manner
  • Integration monitoring and failure troubleshooting across WMS, TMS, and connected systems (SAP, Centiro, iReport, NiceLabel, Telogis/PC Miler) – focus on root cause identification and permanent error resolution
  • Release management: Blue Yonder WMS/TMS, Centiro, NiceLabel, iReport, Telogis/PC Miler upgrades; JDA patches and hotfixes; interface changes; labels and reports
  • Provide application expertise and partner with the regional Key-User network and Logistics Engineers to identify improvements, develop proposals, and deliver on the change process
  • Implement successful regional initiatives globally and facilitate regular coordination sessions with regional teams to identify system issues, prioritize improvements, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Involved in end-to-end configuration and testing cycles
  • Keep up to date on application trends and technologies to ensure SMRT P&S Logistics continuously improves process efficiency and customer service effectiveness
  • Improve existing and develop new logistics and supply chain solutions within SMRT P&S Logistics

Qualifications

Required:

  • Strong SQL and MySQL skills are non-negotiable: you must be able to independently write queries, scripts, and data fixes against WMS and TMS backend databases. Oracle SQL knowledge is also required given the current TMS environment
  • Hands-on experience with MOCA scripting or equivalent backend scripting within the Blue Yonder WMS environment – including reading, writing, and debugging scripts
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with the Blue Yonder WMS backend – including system configuration, data structures, and technical troubleshooting at the application and database layer; functional-only WMS knowledge is not sufficient for this role
  • Strong understanding of system integrations and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues across connected platforms
  • Demonstrated experience in functional logistics areas such as shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations – to provide context for the technical work
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; relevant hands-on technical experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a bias toward permanent fixes over workarounds
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal) – able to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Experience working with application databases, backend configurations, and integration troubleshooting within enterprise supply chain applications.

Preferred / Strong Advantage:

  • Knowledge of Blue Yonder TMS is a strong advantage, particularly familiarity with TMS backend data models, job configuration concepts, database structures, and how TMS and WMS interact through integration layers.
  • Experience with or exposure to Oracle database environments, particularly in the context of a TMS or logistics application – relevant given our current Oracle-to-MySQL migration for TMS
  • Experience with SAP-to-WMS and SAP-to-TMS integration layers.
  • Working knowledge of connected systems such as Centiro, iReport, NiceLabel, or Telogis/PC Miler
  • Proven track record of identifying process improvement opportunities and implementing solutions that drive measurable efficiency gains(WMS/TMS)
