Sourcing Category Manager – Driveline & Mechanical Components

The Underground Drilling Division within Business Area Mining is an industry leading global provider of drilling equipment for underground mining and tunneling industry with focus on technology development and future innovative solutions to enable sustainable operations for our customers. Sandvik Mining and Construction Oy’s Tampere site is a global technology and manufacturing center for Underground Drilling equipment.

We are strengthening and further developing the Underground Drilling Division Sourcing organization and are now looking for an ambitious, commercially driven Sourcing Category Manager to take ownership of the Driveline and Mechanical Components category. The position is permanent and located in Tampere (Myllypuro), Finland.

This role is ideal for a proactive sourcing professional who wants to shape strategy, drive business impact, and lead supplier development in a global industrial environment.

Your role and responsibilities

As Sourcing Category Manager, you will have end‑to‑end responsibility for your category, from strategy to execution:

  • Define, own, and implement the Driveline & Mechanical Category Strategy in close cooperation with key stakeholders

  • Drive cost competitiveness, operational excellence, resilience, and sustainability across the supplier base

  • Lead long‑term development and partnership plans with strategic suppliers

  • Own commercial negotiations, including contracts, pricing models, and key terms and conditions

  • Actively collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Quality, and Operations

  • Manage Tender and sourcing processes, ensuring accurate item‑ and supplier‑level data in the ERP system

Your background and what we find important

You are a business‑minded, results‑oriented sourcing professional who combines strategic thinking with hands‑on execution. You are comfortable taking ownership, challenging the status quo.

You bring:

  • A university degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Engineering, Business, or a relevant field

  • Experience in strategic sourcing or category management within a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • Experience within Driveline and/or mechanical components categories.

  • Commercial acumen and advanced negotiation skills

  • Ability to build trust‑based relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders at all levels

  • A proactive mindset, sense of urgency, and strong drive to deliver measurable results

  • Knowledge of Quality, R&D, Engineering, and manufacturing processes is considered a strong advantage.

  • Willingness to travel internationally and fluent English language skill.
