Sandvik Mining

Sales and Applications Manager – Underground Drilling | Perth or Brisbane

About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technical and commercial leader to play a key role within Sandvik’s Underground Drilling team. As the Sales and Applications Manager, you will provide expert support to the Sales Area by guiding machine selection, application solutions, and pricing strategies aligned to customer and market needs.

You will work closely with Sales, Product Management, and Engineering to analyse product performance, track competitor activity, and share insights that support ongoing product lifecycle decisions. You will also contribute to New Product Development by supporting early planning, customer validation, and new product introduction activities.

This role suits someone who is proactive, customer‑focused, and comfortable operating across both technical and commercial environments. You will help influence product direction, strengthen sales outcomes, and ensure high‑value, practical solutions are delivered to customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead agreed strategic initiatives and special projects to support business development and order intake growth.
  • Develop, maintain, and govern pricing strategies, standard specifications, and options and extras to ensure profitability and avoid unnecessary local development.
  • Act as the main link between Sales Areas, Product Management, and Engineering by sharing reliability data, operating cost insights, operator feedback, and performance trends to support product lifecycle management.
  • Monitor competitor activity, analyse competitor products and performance, and share insights with Product Lines and Sales Areas.
  • Review monthly warranty reports and work with Technical Support to assess warranty claims, identify trends, reliability issues, and emerging risks.
  • Provide input to Engineering and Product Management on product safety, environmental performance, technical risks, and application improvements.
  • Coordinate safety recalls and safety-related bulletins as required, ensuring clear communication and understanding across Sales Units.
  • Participate in New Product Development (Gate 0–Gate 3), including planning, customer validation, trial opportunities, and new product introduction activities.
  • Maintain and monitor machine specifications and option lists, reporting trends and changes across the Underground Drilling Hard Rock product range.
  • Support Sales Units with product configuration, option guidance, and technical input to deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Build strong working relationships with Business Line Managers (BLMs) and keep them informed of Product Management activities and product roadmap updates.

About you:

You are a technically strong and commercially minded professional with experience in complex, technical product environments. You hold tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and have proven experience leading teams. You bring a strong safety‑first mindset and are confident working in underground mining environments.

You communicate technical and commercial information clearly and build strong relationships with stakeholders across Sales, Engineering, Product Management, and customer operations. You are analytically capable, able to interpret performance data, identify trends, and make practical recommendations to improve product reliability, safety, and market competitiveness.

Proactive and solutions‑focused, you show sound judgement, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment. You are comfortable guiding decision‑making, supporting product presentations, and facilitating customer discussions with professionalism and accountability.

You bring strong digital capability, are highly organised, and confidently support both technical and commercial activities. You are approachable, collaborative, and motivated by helping teams succeed, bringing energy, clarity, and commitment to improving the performance of the Underground Drilling product line.
