HR Generalist & Payroll Specialist

Job Summary

Sandvik is seeking a highly motivated and experienced HR Shared Service Specialist to join our HR & EHS team, based in Jakarta office. The position is primarily responsible for HR Generalist and Payroll activities, including HR administration, employee lifecycle support, payroll processing, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee data in HR systems (e.g., Workday), ensuring compliance with company policies and local regulations.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

HR Operations and employee lifecycle:

  • Ensures efficiency of service center operations, technology and transaction processes.
  • Establishes standards and procedures for handling employee questions, transactions and administration of human resource programs.
  • Coordinates services with the human resource information systems, human resource program managers, and technology specialists.
  • Process HR transactions accurately and in a timely manner (e.g., employee changes, transfer, status updates).
  • Ensure smooth execution of employee lifecycle processes across different business areas.

Payroll:

  • Support payroll processing to ensure accurate and timely salary payments.
  • Coordinate with Finance and relevant stakeholders on payroll inputs, deductions, and benefit administration.
  • Handle payroll-related queries and support employees in understanding payslips.
  • Ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with data protection standards.

Employee and manager support:

  • Act as first point of contact for HR-related queries from employees and managers.
  • Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and systems (including Workday and HR processes).
  • Deliver customer-centric HR service to ensure a positive employee experience.

Cross-business support and coordination:

  • Support employees from multiple business areas (hosted service) in line with shared service model.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless HR service delivery.
  • As a matrix organization you will be collaborating with many people within Sandvik in both global and SEA regions in terms of HR processes.

Compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement:

  • Ensure HR processes comply with internal policies, local regulations, and audit requirements.
  • Support HR reporting, documentation, and audit activities.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to efficiency and standardize initiatives.

PREFERRED ENVIRONMENT & MOBILITY

  • This position will be based in Jakarta office, with regular mobility to Balikpapan office as required to support business operations.
  • Willing to travel globally within Sandvik area and/or from site to site or other area assigned within country of Indonesia.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • A university degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HR preferably HR Shared Services, HR Operations, or HR Generalist roles.
  • Proven experience in payroll processing and HR administration, including employee lifecycle activities, preferably in working with HR systems (workday) for data management and transactions, and sunfish for payroll and leave management.
  • Experience in handling HR transactions and employee queries in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Exposure to supporting cross-functional stakeholders is an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge in Indonesian labor law and HR compliance is an advantage.
