The Role:

This position is responsible for delivering, coordinating, managing and supporting technical services deployments of Sandvik Automation & Digital solutions. The Applications Specialist takes ownership and responsibility for project execution and client success on project tasks throughout the assigned region. This role specializes primarily in the deployment, ongoing services and support of software, system configurations and reports.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Project & Deployment Management

    • Lead and manage end-to-end deployments of Newtrax applications, including software installations and system configurations for underground mining equipment Telemetry, Proximity Detection Systems (PDS), Collision Prevention Systems (CAS) and Mine data platforms.

    • Coordinate on-site activities and ownership of project execution across within Southern Africa region.

  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting

    • Provide both first- and second-line technical support, performing problem diagnosis and issue resolution on the Newtrax applications and network systems onsite.

    • Review and validate equipment onboard system installations executed by the Field Service Technicians and Product Specialists

  • System Audits & Optimization

    • Audit APDS (Advanced Proximity Detection Systems), MDP (Mine Data Platform) deployments, and underground onboard components to ensure proper installation, functionality, and compliance with system standard

    • Recommend improvements to boost system performance and validate data acquisition post-install

  • Training & Knowledge Transfer

    • Train the internal installation team of technicians and Product specialist and the key end-users on the Newtrax system usage and best practices.

    • Support the internal team members in routine problem-solving techniques.

  • Product Insights & Factory collaboration

    • Liaise with Technical Support Manager on product improvement and development in conjunction with product management from the factory.

    • Stay updated on evolving technology and roadmap developments.

  • Sales Support

    • Collaborate with sales teams to generate and maintain a healthy pipeline of service-related activities aligned with growth strategies

Supervisory or Coaching role

  • Provides subject matter guidance to colleagues.

  • Oversee and direct work completed by Level 1 and 2 Application Specialist

  • Manage and Coordinate Level 1 and Level 2 On-Site activities.

  • Ensure all On-Site work is completed to the correct quality standards

Your profile ​

  • Diploma/Degree in (electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or, information Technology automation engineering)

  • Minimum 5 years' experience

  • Operating systems, networking and servers

  • Software Programming languages

  • Understanding of Communication and Networking protocols (WiFi, LTE, Ethernet etc)

  • Understanding of Application and software system architecture

  • Embedded, Desktop and Server application deployment, commissioning, support

  • Proficiency with reporting/dashboard tools such as MS Business Intelligence

  • Software Integration and workflow orchestration

  • Expert level organizational skills to manage project workloads

  • Ability to solve complex problems

  • Ability to mentor and coach coworkers

  • Critical-thinking and time-management skills

  • Teamwork

  • Customer oriented
