The Role

Provides technical support in mechanical maintenance. Maintains and improves machines and equipment to increase or

maintain a high level of reliability, availability, cost efficiency and performance.

Key Performance Areas / Responsibilities

Perform mechanical maintenance operations on mining and earthmoving equipment.
Execute preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance activities.
Support maintenance planning and preparation processes.
Monitor maintenance outcomes and complete required documentation, including outcomes, root causes, downtime, and
improvement actions.
Work in accordance with standard operating procedures and maintenance standards.
Achieve maintenance performance and reliability targets.
Maintain quality standards and equipment cleanliness.
Communicate operational status, equipment condition, and any deviations promptly.
Adhere to all safety, health, environmental, and housekeeping (5S) requirements.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and personal development.
Diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and related systems on mining and construction equipment.

Profile Required

Grade 12 / N3 Technical Qualification or equivalent qualification.
Section 13 or Section 26D Trade Certificate (Millwright or Diesel Mechanic), accompanied by proof of apprenticeship (SETA Contract, Institutional Training, or Off-the-Job Modules).
Basic computer literacy.
English proficiency.
Minimum 5 years' relevant mining experience.
Minimum 5 years' experience in a mechanised mining environment.
Experience in underground and/or surface mining operations.
Experience maintaining earthmoving and mining equipment within mining or construction environments.
Sound knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and electrical maintenance principles.
Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve equipment failures effectively.
