Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions (SMR) is a leading supplier in equipment and tools, services and technical solutions for the mining and construction industries. Our application areas include rock drilling, rock cutting, crushing, and screening, loading, and hauling, tunnelling, quarrying, and breaking and demolition. To our Rock Tools division and the Production Unit in Patancheru, we are now looking for an Officer – Logistics to join us.
Your scope:
Responsible for end‑to‑end logistics operations, including inbound from production shops and outbound transportation, distribution, and coordination with order management, production, freight forwarders, transporters and customers. The role ensures timely, safe, and cost‑effective movement of materials to our customers, while maintaining compliance with statutory, quality, and organizational requirements. The role leverages SAP S/4HANA (Logistics, EWM, TM, Sales and Trade Compliance) and warehouse operation to deliver efficient, visible, and optimized logistics flows in line with organizational, financial, and operational objectives.
To be more specific, your main responsibilities to handle in this position are:
- Ensure full compliance with Sandvik EHS standards across all materials management operations.
- Adhere to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, SMRT procedures, and Group Internal Control requirements.
- Manage goods receipt, put-away, picking, HU management, and bin-level storage with accurate real-time updates in SAP EWM.
- Execute warehouse operations using EWM/WM, including RF-enabled processes.
- Maintain inventory accuracy with respect to batch numbers, serial numbers, and customer-specific stock segregation.
- Collaborate closely with the production team to ensure timely inbound material receipt, identify quantity or quality discrepancies, and drive timely resolution.
- Perform primary and secondary packing activities, including product labelling in line with product and customer specifications.
- Conduct periodic cycle counts using the EWM physical inventory (PI) process and post results to ensure inventory accuracy in SAP S/4HANA.
- Review outbound delivery documents (OBDs) received from the order desk and plan air or sea shipments based on priority, ensuring timely pick-and-pack execution.
- Create billing documents accurately, ensuring correct tax determination in compliance with statutory requirements.
- Ensure all applicable EXIM benefits (duty drawback, RODTEP, IGST, LUT, etc.) are correctly captured on export invoices in line with DGFT, GST, and customs regulations.
- Generate and validate e-Invoices and corresponding e-Way bills for every shipment, ensuring accuracy of invoice and transportation details.
- Prepare and verify all export shipment documentation, packing lists, shipping labels, SCOMET declarations, fumigation certificates, and customer orders prior to dispatch.
- Identify freight orders in SAP TMS and consolidate customer shipments into a single transshipment in the Pagero system to release bookings with freight forwarders.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders for timely placement of vehicles or containers based on shipment volume and packaging configuration.
- Monitor end-to-end freight movements and proactively follow up with carriers to manage delays, exceptions, or deviations.
- Resolve customs-related queries, document discrepancies, valuation or classification issues to support smooth clearance; approve shipping bill checklists and draft Bills of Lading.
- Provide pre-alerts and regular shipment status updates to customers, including arrival information, delays, and exception handling.
- Ensure proper usage of RF terminals for scanning and task confirmations.
- Perform daily cycle counts and resolve inventory variances.
- Initiate, execute, and monitor physical inventory processes in EWM.
- Manage stock statuses including blocked, quality inspection, and unrestricted inventory.
- Troubleshoot EWM issues such as task locks, queue failures, open warehouse orders, and HU-related errors.
- Coordinate with IT and EWM support teams to resolve system-related issues.
- Ensure correct use and maintenance of master data including storage bins, handling units, and resources.
- Create, review, and release billing documents (invoices, credit notes, debit notes, and proforma invoices).
- Monitor billing due lists and ensure timely invoicing to customers.
- Review sales orders, deliveries, pricing conditions, and tax data prior to invoice release.
- Convert freight units into optimized freight orders or bookings in SAP TMS.
- Identify and resolve SAP TMS and Pagero issues, including integration errors, master data gaps, and status update failures.
Your profile:
Candidate should have minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in warehouse management, invoicing, transportation management, and SAP S/4HANA -EWM/TM/Sales / trade compliance in a manufacturing engineering environment.
Any commerce graduate with diploma in supply chain / warehouse management / logistics is required. You have previously worked with strong EHS cultured organizations, and you understand the importance of a diverse workforce and collaborative settings
Competencies that we find necessary are:
- Hands-on experience in the domain of warehouse operations, Export documentation, Transportation management, GST & Customs Procedures
- Deep knowledge of exports, customs regulations, GST, freight rules, and statutory documentation.
- Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA MM, EWM/WM & sales and rental, Transportation management, trade compliance and E-invoicing & E-waybill preparation.
- Strong capability in planning day to day workload, Optimum utilization human resources, co-ordination with transporters and freight forwarders.
- Strong skills in material handling, Warehouse safety practices, Adaptability for handling last minute requests.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Power BI, Power Point, tools for analysis and reporting.
- Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
