Quality Controller

The Role

The Quality Controller is responsible for ensuring that products and processes meet defined quality standards. This role involves inspecting components before, during and after repairs at the company Workshop and Subcontractors’ Workshops, identifying defects or deviations from standard dimensions and procedures, and reporting findings to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements. The Quality Controller plays a key role in maintaining product integrity, reducing defects, and supporting continuous improvement on the production floor. The role includes dimensional, visual, and functional checks throughout various stages of components and equipment repair and assembly including fabrication, welding, spray painting, stripping, final assembly and testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Maintain QMS documentation, including NCRs and corrective action logs.
  • Ensure full quality compliance with company policies, procedures, and customer requirements.
  • Review and approve quality control plans and technical procedures for compliance with standards.
  • Ensure full traceability of parts and processes across all repair and production stages.
  • Conduct inspections (incoming, in-process, and final) to verify conformance to drawings and specifications.
  • Perform dimensional, visual, and functional testing using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Interpret technical drawings, GD&T symbols, and fabrication/assembly specifications.
  • Execute routine and non-routine testing in accordance with SOPs and industry standards.
  • Identify, document, and report defects, deviations, and non-conformances.
  • Generate NCRs and follow up on corrective actions to ensure closure.
  • Collaborate with production teams and suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
  • Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives, including enhancement of testing methods and systems.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial preferred), Quality Management, or a related technical field.
  • ISO 9001: 2015 Introduction, Implementation & Internal Auditing advantageous
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the industrial or heavy equipment sector.
  • Experience in environmental management, sustainability initiatives, environmental compliance, corporate social responsibility (CSR) Health, safety, and environment (HSE/HSEQ) and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) reporting
  • Proven experience with quality control methodologies, tools, and techniques (e.g., SPC, FMEA, 8D, Six Sigma).
  • Strong understanding of quality control legislation, regulations and frameworks
  • Medical and physical ability to work in a mine environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to collaborate in a matrix organisation
