About the opportunity

The Onsite Product Specialist embeds with the customer’s operations to maximise the performance, safety and availability of Sandvik equipment. Acting as the primary technical interface on site, the role diagnoses and resolves complex product issues, coaches customer and Sandvik technicians in best practice maintenance, and translates real world operating feedback into continuous improvements. By coordinating with Product Support, Engineering and Aftermarket teams, the Onsite Product Specialist drives measurable gains in equipment uptime, productivity and cost to operate while upholding Sandvik’s EHS standards and working practices. This role will oversee the roll-out of a Mechanical Cutting - Bolter Miner in Emerald QLD.

Roster: 7 days on / 7 days off (FIFO or DIDO)
Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality on‑site technical support to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.

  • Build strong, positive relationships with customers to enhance their experience and promote ongoing loyalty to the Sandvik brand.

  • Provide technical coaching and guidance to the service network on correct operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.

  • Offer expert-level technical support to end users, operators, and service personnel for complex or escalated issues.

  • Supply detailed feedback to Technical Support Managers and Factory Product Engineering teams to drive continuous product and operational improvements.

  • Assist with accurate data collection to support warranty claim processing and machine improvement initiatives.

  • Recommend required spare parts for both planned and unplanned maintenance activities.

  • Collaborate with site planners and coordinators to prioritise and schedule corrective work effectively.

  • Analyse machine downtime data and develop targeted action plans to improve fleet performance.

  • Lead root cause analysis investigations when component failures occur.

  • Proactively and reactively investigate warranty claims to maximise customer satisfaction and support the Warranty Analyst with actionable insights.

  • Utilise machine telemetry data to help customers optimise the performance of their Bolter Miner fleet.

About you

We are seeking a skilled Product Specialist to join our team, based in either Newcastle, NSW or Queensland, with flexibility for DIDO or FIFO arrangements. The ideal candidate will hold a Mechanical Trade Certificate (or equivalent) and bring a minimum of seven years’ post‑trade experience in Underground Mining, along with a proven history in a similar technical role. You thrive in challenging environments and demonstrate an ability to work confidently across diverse cultural settings. You have experience delivering technical training to maintenance personnel and operators, supported by exceptional written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal capability—particularly in customer-facing situations.

Your solid computer literacy, ability to perform under pressure, and adaptability to shifting priorities make you a strong fit for our dynamic, integrated team. Expertise in Sandvik Mechanical Cutting equipment is highly regarded. Driver’s Licence, basic computer skills, and the ability to meet all site requirements, are essential.
