About the Role

As an Equipment Test Specialist – Level 1, you will play a key role in validating the performance, reliability, and safety of our drilling equipment. You’ll work across mechanical, electrical, control, and fluid power systems to ensure every machine leaving our facility is field‑ready and built to Sandvik’s world-class standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Multi-Domain Testing: Execute testing protocols across diverse integrated systems, including:

    • Mechanical & Structural: Structural integrity and load testing.

    • Fluid Power: Hydraulic and pneumatic system performance.

    • Electrical & Control: Power group systems, electrical circuits, and equipment operation logic.

    • Environmental: Thermal management and cooling systems.

    • Safety: Validation of equipment safety systems and interlocks.

  • Field & Facility Execution: Conduct rigorous testing at the primary production facility and at various customer sites to ensure field readiness and performance.

  • Operational Integration: Assist production operations with the adoption and standardization of developed equipment test plans into the manufacturing workflow.

  • Data Analysis: Utilize dataloggers and diagnostic software to capture, analyze, and report on equipment performance against technical benchmarks.

  • Reporting: Generate reports which summarize test results back to Project Management, and System and Design engineering teams.

Your Profile

  • Work Authorization: Ability to work in the U.S. on a full-time indefinite basis without employer sponsorship

  • Technical Experience: 1–3 years of experience in equipment testing, systems integration, or a high-complexity manufacturing environment.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience in a related technical field.

  • Tool Proficiency: Diagnostic Hardware: Hands-on ability to use multi-meters, flow meters, and pressure sensors.

    • Advanced Sensors: Experience or familiarity with installing and reading thermocouples and accelerometers.

    • Software: Proficiency with laptop-based diagnostic tools and ALM software (e.g., Polarion).

  • Physical Abilities: Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and navigate industrial environments (climbing, kneeling, or crawling). Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environments and wear full PPE for extended shifts.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong capability to translate abstract functional requirements into concrete, actionable test steps.

  • Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively with both engineering design teams and production floor personnel.

  • Travel: Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support customer site testing as required.

Location and Flexibility

The role is based primarily at our Alachua production facility, with up to 20% domestic and international travel to support field testing.
