Production Technologist(Fitter & Hydraulics)

Department: SMRT IPL - Assembly center

Reports To: Deputy Manager - Production

Location: Assembly Center, Dapodi, Pune

Key Responsibilities -

Assembly and testing of Mining and Construction equipment as per order form, drawing & SOP w.r.t hydraulics, welding, fitting, pressing, punching and etc. Perform mechanical fitting, assembly, alignment, and troubleshooting of components and sub-assemblies. Read and interpret engineering drawings, hydraulic schematics, and work instructions. Assemble, test, and troubleshoot hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, cylinders, and hoses. Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Operating of overhead cranes,Jig cranes, Induction heater, aerial platforms, required tools for assembly, etc and ensure the visual health check of all these and report abnormalities to Maintenance and superior. Participate in Lean manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, waste reduction, and process improvements. Identify production issues and coordinate with engineering, quality, and maintenance teams for resolution. Support continuous improvement in productivity, efficiency, and cost reduction. Maintain proper documentation related to production activities and quality checks. Train or support junior technicians as required.

Required Skills and Competencies

Technical Skills

Strong mechanical fitter & hydraulic systems skills with hands on assembly experience. Technical Knowledge about the Assembly Process like fitting, welding, hydraulics, electrical, punching and etc. Basic understanding of Lean manufacturing concepts (5S, Kaizen, standard work, waste elimination). Read & Understand the engineering Drawings and SOP's Ability to use measuring instruments, hand tools, and power tools. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and shop-floor practices.

Behavioural & Soft Skills

Good communication skills (verbal and written). Positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented production environment. Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail. Discipline in following safety, quality, and process standards.

Qualifications

Diploma / ITI in Mechanical Engineering, Production, or a related field. Additional training or certification in hydraulics or industrial maintenance is an advantage.

Experience

2–5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, assembly, or production within the mining, construction equipment, heavy engineering, or industrial machinery sector. Exposure to shop-floor operations and industrial safety practices is preferred.
