Job profile

As FEA project lead, you are responsible to review the FEA deliverables from the FEA team wrt scope, quality of FEA, review efficient methods, compliance requirements for the respective divisions.

Experience / exposure towards mining / construction / heavy machinery industry is essentially a pre-requisite.

Good ability to speak and write in English are pre-requisites in this job.

The main responsibilities are as follows:

  • Experience in Ansys workbench & Spaceclaim to perform FEA, validate physics
  • Depth of experience to handle large non-linear contact analysis problems
  • Have a sound knowledge on the best mesh practices for analysis set-ups
  • Detailed interpretations and value added comprehensive remarks on the results
  • Strong in FBD, defining the right boundary conditions, validating the reaction forces, simulating the FEA as per the operating conditions of the structure / machine
  • Experienced in reducing stress concentrations in material and welds in fabricated structures
  • Strong in evaluating the fatigue life for welds and materials including Miner damage per IIW / global standards
  • Experienced in evaluating bolts in detail using Eurocode-3 or VDI method.
  • Experience in validating design calculations and in using global standards like EuroCode-3, crane standard
  • Exposure to various standards on steel materials
  • Be able to produce simple designs, effective field kit solutions keeping the cost low
  • To be able to verify design using basic principles of strength of materials / engineering mechanics
  • Be able to handle multiple FEA project deliveries and to handle the regular communications to the project stake holders, thereby building a strong rapport with divisions
  • Be strong in following established process and to also improvise the methods and guidelines for FEA
  • Ansys customization is a added advantage
  • Knowledge of strain gauge testing and correlation would be added advantage

Your profile

  • University degree in Mechanical engineering / master’s in mechanical engineering
  • 12-15 years of FEA experience
  • Solid track record of validating FEA results, simplifying FEA process, challenging the methods, redefining the guidelines
  • At least 8 years of experience in Ansys workbench
  • Experience in HyperWorks (Radioss, OptiStruct, HyperMesh) is an added advantage
