Warehouse Operations Manager

We are looking for a an ambitious, motivated and results orientated individual to join our team as our Warehouse and Operations Manager.
The role will report into the Supply Chain Manager. The role will be based from our offices in Spartan, Kempton Park, Johannesburg.
Purpose of the role:
- Responsible for the Inbound and Outbound Warehouse operations and administration, including issuing of material and effective stock control. Managing the daily warehouse operations maintaining a professional and effective customer service delivery standard. Oversees receipt, storage and shipment of goods in accordance with established procedures.
- Prepares and coordinates schedules for receiving and shipping of goods and materials. Import and Export compliance, documentation control and recording keeping. Maintains the warehouse in accordance with company Safety and Facilities requirements.
The job responsibilities:
- Develop, plan, and implement a warehouse management framework with adequate resources to maintain On-time deliveries.
- Document Best Practices and Implement in all functional areas within the warehouse.
- Setup warehouse layout, storage, and processing areas for efficient space utilization.
- Manage sales orders and manufacturing Jobs to ensure on-time dispatch to internal and external customers.
- Issue physical stock according to the Bill of Materials accurately and on time.
- Develops, maintains, and ensures adherence to all warehouse inbound or outbound procedures.
- Optimises operational efficiency within the warehouse to drive high productivity levels.
- Oversees the infrastructure and planning ensuring smooth day to day running of all equipment and processes.
- Manages daily receipts to determine immediate and effective actions for sales orders/job fulfilment.
- Plans daily deliveries ensuring that delivery performance is in line with agreed target.
- Maintains full control of order collections and reports aging collections as per requirement.
- Maintains stock accuracy within the warehouse, including shelf stock, finished goods, transfers, work in progress,
- Ensure that that stock loss is at minimum/well below the agreed tolerance level.
- Responsible for regular stock verifications and stock audits.
- Plans and manages the wall-to-wall stock counts as per company requirements.
- Implements and maintains storage locations to support easy identification and withdrawal of items for despatch.
- Identify non-moving obsolete stock and formulate actions with Inventory Manager to rectify.
- Facilitates smooth interaction with warehouse stakeholders e.g. Order Desk, Inventory, Production, Assembly Procurement and Freight.
- Maintains and manages warehouse processes to limit financial risks e.g. Proof of delivery/collection, goods return, credit, incorrect supply.
- Responsible for day-to-day warehouse cost control and reporting.
- Maintains an orderly facility with proper housekeeping, repairs, and maintenance practices.
- Facilitates a sustainable workforce through a formal succession plan applying up to date training and development.
- Manages a high performing team including process execution, productivity, performance management, corrective, and improvement actions.
- Provides direct coaching and guidance to maintain a high performing team environment.
EHS Responsibilities
- Oversees adherence to all relevant Sandvik safety, health and environment policies and procedures, provides proactive and visible safety leadership in all daily activities.
- Complies with Sandvik Safety, Health and Environment management system and targets set.
- Lives the Sandvik Safety, Health and Environment Culture.
- Drive safety awareness and performance to achieve Sandvik compliance standards.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
- Grade 12
- Degree within the supply chain, logistics, warehouse area or equivalent.
- 10 years’ experience in Warehousing/Distribution/Supply Chain in a mining / engineering environment of which 5 years demonstrated experience in a warehouse management role.
Other Requirements & Competencies
- Requires in-depth knowledge and experience of warehouse processes, systems and their applications.
- Experience in the fulfilment of equipment and aftermarket parts delivery, advantageous.
- Knowledge of internal or external business requirements to improve availability and delivery performance.
- Effective leadership style, organizational, and communicational skills.
- Strong knowledge of Warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives.
- Works independently, receives minimal guidance but effective working in a team setting.
- Supports team members and colleagues to increase performance and overall Customer Service Delivery.
- Must be able to manage a diversity of functions / multi- tasking.
- Structured analytical approach, Problem Solving
- Competence in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to understand and interpret data using the applicable software applications and systems.
- Good people engagement skills, ability to influence towards the desired outcome.
- Customer focused and passion to delivery word class service delivery.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time well.
- Availability to respond and attend to matters outside of normal operating hours.
- Valid driver’s license.
