The role
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detailed-orientated Warehouse Officer to join our team.
As the Warehouse Supervisor, you will oversee daily warehouse activities involved with the supply of spare parts and materials from the warehouse to the customer. There will be a key focus on people management, forward planning, costs and KPI’s. The role has a strong focus on Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards and compliance with chain of responsibility.
About you
We are looking for a candidate with proven experience in warehouse supervision or a similar role, possessing strong leadership and team management skills. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities, along with proficiency in inventory management systems and warehouse technology. Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations is essential, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Lead in running an efficient warehouse operation that is able to fulfill operational and customer demands and meet set targets
- Supervise the day-to-day activities of team members and ensure operations run seamlessly.
- Check all outgoing stocks to ensure that they are in good condition and make sure that all documents are accurately signed for proper documentation.
- Ensure the delivery of parts to customers respect planning
- Train new warehouse operatives within the area of responsibility
- Ensure that the work environment is healthy and conducive for workers to carry out their duties without subjecting themselves to any harm or danger.
- Carry out regular audits to ascertain stock levels.
- Ensure inventories in area of responsibility are accurate
- Ensure stock movements are recorded accurately
- Support organizing and participating in stock take at regular intervals
- Ensure that any computerized or automated systems are accurate and up to date
- Identify any systems improvements and make recommendations for change
- Ensure that all lifting and maneuvering of products and materials is carried out in accordance with manual handling procedures
- Maintain high standards of security in the warehouse
- Ensure staff comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations and work safely to protect themselves and others in the warehouse environment
- Ensure a clean and tidy working environment to aid operational efficiency
- Adhere to all SMC Policies & Procedures especially the SHEQ policies
Qualification
- Degree in Stores Management supply Chain /Part qualification in CIPS or its equivalent
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in similar role
- Solid overall knowledge of spare parts, general hardware, tools, catalogues & H. D. Machinery etc.
- Proficiency in Business English (written & spoken)
- Experience in Stores management
- Proficiency in the use of Aurora
- Strong business sense and EHS focus.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and people management skills are essential.
- Proficiency in the use of spreadsheets and other MS Office applications
- The willingness to travel and work in remote locations for extended periods of time is essential.
- Proficiency in maintenance management practices
- Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and provide guidance to members of the team.
- The ability to communicate in French would be an advantage.
