Sandvik Mining Botswana is seeking Two (2) Artisan Assistants to support Service Technicians in the servicing, maintenance, and repair of Sandvik mining equipment. This role is critical in ensuring high machine availability, adherence to safety standards, and excellent service delivery to Sandvik customers within mining and construction environments. The Artisan Assistant will work both on customer sites and within Sandvik workshops, assisting with planned maintenance, breakdown repairs, inspections, and component handling, while strictly complying with Sandvik and client SHEQ standards.
Key Performance Areas
Equipment Maintenance & Technical Support
- Assist in the servicing and maintenance of earthmoving and mining equipment in surface and underground environments.
- Support Service Technicians by identifying service and maintenance requirements from work orders.
- Assist with diagnostics, inspections, testing, and execution of maintenance tasks.
- Tag, remove, and deliver components to the store or workshop as required.
- Recommend required spare parts and assist with component management
Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ)
- Work in full compliance with the Sandvik SHEQ Management System, including objectives and targets.
- Uphold Sandvik’s EHS Policies, Vision, Culture, and “Commitment & Responsibility” principles.
- Comply with Sandvik and client standards, procedures, and site rules.
- Assist in controlling hazardous substances and report hazardous conditions or unsafe acts.
- Participate in incident and accident investigations when required.
- 3Attend SHE meetings and safety forums as scheduled.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping in all work areas.
Reporting & Customer Service
- Report all deviations, equipment faults, and damages accurately and timeously.
- Demonstrate a strong customer service orientation when interacting with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Support the achievement of service delivery targets and team performance goals.
Your Profile
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or NCC qualification in Mechanical, Millwright, Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronic trades.
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience working with mechanized mining equipment in surface or underground mining environments.
- Post‑trade experience in maintaining heavy vehicle or mining machinery.
- Knowledge of or experience with Sandvik underground or surface mining equipment will be a distinct advantage.
- Computer literacy and exposure to maintenance or technical software will be an added advantage.
- Strong safety awareness and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Willingness to work on customer sites and in demanding mining environments.
