Apprentice Program Coordinator

Job Summary

Sandvik is seeking applications from motivated individuals for Apprentice Program Coordinator based in Balikpapan – Kalimantan Timur.
The Apprentice Master is responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering a structured Apprenticeship Program over a one‑year period. This role serves as the primary mentor, coach, and program owner for up to 10 apprentices, ensuring effective On‑the‑Job Training (OJT) and in‑house learning while building technical competence, professional behavior, and safety culture. The Apprentice Master acts as a trainer, facilitator, and role model, supporting apprentices’ transition into productive, safety‑conscious professionals aligned with company values and business needs.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Apprenticeship Program Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage the 12‑month apprenticeship program, including OJT rotations and in‑house training schedules.

  • Ensure learning objectives, milestones, and assessments are clearly defined and tracked.

  • Act as the single point of accountability for the apprentice journey from onboarding to completion

2. Mentoring & Coaching

  • Serve as mentor and coach up to 10 apprentices, providing continuous guidance, motivation, and feedback.

  • Support apprentices in developing technical, behavioral, and safety competencies.

  • Conduct regular one‑on‑one coaching sessions and progress reviews

3. Training Delivery & Facilitation.

  • Deliver classroom, workshop, and practical training sessions related to technical skills, safety, quality, and professional development.

  • Prepare and present training materials clearly and engagingly.

  • Facilitate group discussions, sharing sessions, and learning reflections

4. On‑the‑Job Training (OJT) Supervision

  • Coordinate OJT assignments with operational team.

  • Monitor apprentice performance in real work environments.

  • Ensure OJT activities comply with EHS, quality, and operational standards

5. Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track apprentice attendance, learning progress, and competency development.

  • Provide regular reports and recommendations to HR / L&D / management.

  • Identify high‑potential apprentices and development needs early.

6. Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Align apprenticeship activities with workforce planning and talent pipeline needs.

  • Promote a culture of learning, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

COLLABORATION WITH OTHER BUSINESS LINE

• Work closely with HR & EHS team, technical supervisors, and line managers.
• As the matrix organization you will be collaborating with many people within Sandvik in both global and SEA regions, including HR Region, Business Line Managers and Territory Manager.
• Direct report to Service Manager with dotted line to HR & EHS Manager.
• Collaboration with Administration Service to ensure recording activities and progress.

• Ensure EHS leadership is integrated into strategic planning, decision-making, and organizational objectives.
• Provide adequate resources, policies, and systems to support EHS performance and continual improvement.
• Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across all levels to drive sustainable EHS performance.
• Regularly review EHS performance metrics and lead improvement initiatives based on trends, audits, and incidents.
• Ensure effective communication of EHS priorities and expectations to all employees, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Demonstrate exemplary EHS behavior and ensure the organization complies with Sandvik global EHS Policy, ISO 14001/45001, and SMKP requirements.
• Empower all employees to stop and report any work that appears unsafe or could cause harm, without fear of retaliation.

PREFERRED ENVIRONMENT & MOBILITY
• Field - Any environment (Location Sandvik Sites / Projects).
• Willing to travel globally within Sandvik area and/or from site to site within country of Indonesia.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Technical Education, HR Development, or related field.
• Experience in training delivery, coaching, mentoring, or apprenticeship programs, with proven ability to develop young talent.
• Background in industrial, mining, or engineering environments.
• Proficient skill in English with written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
• Good understanding of OJT, competency-based learning and principles.
• Ability to travel regionally or stationed on site.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• High awareness of EHS and workplace safety culture.
• Ability to engage and inspire diverse learners.
• Patient, supportive, and people-oriented while having structured yet flexible approach to learning.
