Reliability Engineer

We are seeking a Reliability Engineer x 1 based in UB Head Office:

JOB PURPOSE:

Responsible for the implementation and improvement of the RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) program, Defect Elimination investigations and other engineering initiatives that add significant value to the business. Continuously monitor and review equipment performance to improve equipment reliability, provide consistent communication and reporting and provide engineering solutions to reliability issues, assisting with the rollout of improvement initiatives.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Lead RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance), FMEA, and RCA (root cause analysis) to eliminate top chronic failures and production losses.
  • Build criticality assessments and spares strategies (including insurance/critical spares, min/max levels) in collaboration with Supply/Parts.
  • Develop and optimize PM strategies (task intervals, scopes, failure mode coverage) using data (e.g., Weibull analysis, maintenance history, condition monitoring).
  • Create equipment reliability models and performance dashboards (MTBF, MTTR, availability, OEE, cost per hour/ton).
  • Maintain and improve equipment bills of materials (eBOMs) and failure coding standards to support analytics and planning.
  • Partner with planners/schedulers to sequence work that reduces downtime and aligns with component life forecasts.
  • Validate job plans and scopes for critical work to ensure quality, accuracy, and standardization.
  • Specify quality criteria and precision maintenance standards.
  • Support shutdown/outage scope selection and post-event reviews with lessons learned.
  • Facilitate cross-functional Defect Elimination forums, track actions and value realization.
  • Recommend engineering changes utilizing internal systems.
  • Benchmark performance and implement best practices across sites/areas.
  • Identify operational factors that can impact equipment reliability.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, HSE, Supply/Parts, and Suppliers to prioritize reliability initiatives.
  • Support component life-cycle management, warranty claims, bulletin management, and technical evaluations for repairs/rebuilds.
  • Contribute to long-lead and critical spares forecasting, stocking strategies, and obsolescence management.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or related field).
  • 3–7 years in reliability/maintenance engineering within mining or heavy industry.
  • Exposure to mobile assets (Surface or Underground) and subsequent maintenance activities and able to work/visit OTUG mine site
  • Demonstrated application of RCM, FMEA, RCA (5-Whys, Fishbone, Apollo/TapRooT).
  • Proven track record improving availability, MTBF, and maintenance cost performance.
  • Good command of verbal and written English.
  • Proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and openness to feedback.
  • Analytical Rigor: Uses data, statistics, and failure histories to drive decisions.
  • Problem Solving: Structured RCA, hypothesis testing, and practical field follow-through.
  • Influence & Collaboration: Works across maintenance, operations, and supply to land solutions.
  • Focus on highest-value bad actors and risks planning.
  • Clear technical writing and concise presentations to frontline and leaders.
