SENIOR SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Sandvik Mining and Construction DRC is a Sales Unit based in Lubumbashi within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, a Business Area and a leading supplier of equipment, tools, services, and support for the mining industry. We also provide solutions and expertise across a wide range of applications, including rock drilling, rock cutting, loading and hauling, tunnelling, and quarrying.

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Senior Service Technician (Workshop) to join our team. In this role, you will perform maintenance, repair, and inspection activities on mining equipment, ensuring high-quality service delivery while supporting operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

This is a hands-on role based in the workshop, with exposure to customer equipment and collaboration with internal teams.

Your mission

  • Carry out maintenance, repair, and inspection activities, using diverse tools and techniques with limited supervision.

  • Workshop- or customer site-based, working under the guidance of more senior service technicians.

Maintenance and repair basic support

  • Repair and replace parts, following instructions and technical equipment manuals.

  • Identify the basic structure of the equipment, locate the main components, and explain its basic functionality to colleagues.

  • Interpret basic mechanical designs and maintenance manuals, assembling and dismantling to make necessary alignments and adjustments.

  • Perform maintenance tasks independently and verify task results to detect possible problems.

  • Support and guide junior technicians where required

  • Ensure work area is kept clean and tidy, and that tools and equipment are stored appropriately.

Planning and reporting

  • Report and document executed work according to relevant procedures and work instructions.

  • Plan for having the correct tools and parts required to perform tasks according to work procedures. (e.g. collect service kits to perform service on machine, book special tools required etc.)

  • Adopt a positive approach to building a sustainable Sandvik Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) culture within the workplace.

  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and ensure that your actions do not adversely affect the environment or the health and safety of any other person in the workplace.

  • Comply with all aspects of the Sandvik Environment, Health & Safety Policy, and any reasonable instructions, procedures or systems of work that are given in the interest of providing safe work practices in the workplace and to eliminate environmental harm.

  • Identify and report any unsafe work behaviors/practices, hazards, and incidents immediately

Your profile

  • 2–4 years’ experience in mining, heavy equipment, or workshop service

  • Technical diploma or trade certification (mechanical/electrical or similar)

  • Basic experience with Sandvik or similar equipment

Knowledge of:

  • Mechanical systems

  • Hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrics

  • Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting

Ability to:

  • Read schematics and technical manuals

  • Perform basic root cause analysis

  • Work independently with moderate supervision

Technical skills (advantage)

Experience with at least one equipment group:

  • Load & Haul

  • Drilling / Rock Tools

  • Automation systems

Familiarity with:

  • iSeries / control systems

  • BEV equipment principles

  • Remote monitoring systems
