Field Service Technician – Rock Drill Auditor
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and safety‑focused Service Technician (Rock Drill Auditor) to join our Parts & Service team. In this site‑based, roaming role, you will perform inspections, audits, preventive maintenance, and repairs on specialised mining equipment, including drill rigs and associated hydraulic, electrical, and automation systems.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment reliability, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction. You will work closely with customers and internal teams while representing Sandvik’s commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
This is a DIDO role, operating on either an 8/6 or 2/2 roster, supporting operations across customer sites.
Responsibilities
Perform inspections, audits, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs on Sandvik drilling equipment and related systems.
Identify worn or damaged components and complete repairs, overhauls, and replacements to required standards.
Complete commissioning of new or repaired equipment and components.
Conduct pre‑task risk assessments and ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with site and Sandvik EHS requirements.
Accurately complete daily work reports, job logs, timesheets, and field service documentation.
Provide regular updates to supervisors on work progress and emerging issues.
Maintain clean work areas, tools, and vehicles (where applicable) with high housekeeping standards.
Actively participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support team members through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and effective shift handovers.
About you
You are a hands‑on technician with strong diagnostic capability and a commitment to safe work practices. You enjoy working in site‑based environments, collaborating with teammates, and delivering high‑quality outcomes for customers.
Key Skills and Experience
Trade qualification in Mechanical, Fabrication, Automotive (Mobile Plant), or similar discipline
(or relevant non‑trade experience with exposure to mechanical or engineering environments).Proven experience maintaining and repairing mining or heavy equipment (Sandvik equipment highly regarded).
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to fault‑find across hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
Good interpersonal and communication skills when liaising with customers and team members.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in remote site environments.
Valid driver’s licence (essential).
Forklift, Dogman, or Rigger tickets (desirable).
Willingness to learn and use digital tools and mobile applications.
