Junior Accountant

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba

Currently, we have an opening for a Junior Accountant. The Junior Accountant is responsible for providing efficient handling of the general accounting activities. As well as, ensuring compliance with IFRS, local legislation and Sandvik processes and regulations in the general accounting area.

What you will be doing

  • Develop the ways of working in the general accounting area.

  • Perform general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements, and capital expenditure schedules.

  • Prepare, record, analyze, and report accounting transactions and ensure the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles.

  • Conduct or assist in the documentation of accounting projects.

  • Provide financial support, including forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing variations from budget when needed.

  • Analyze and prepare statutory accounts, financial statements and reports when needed.

  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Manager.

What you will bring along

  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.

  • One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, preferably in a finance setting.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Time management and organizational skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, and other software (Power BI, ERP) is considered an asset.
