About the opportunity
The Tools Sales and Support Representative plays a key role in promoting the sale, service, and aftermarket support of Sandvik’s Top Hammer, Down the Hole (DTH), and Rotary drilling consumables.
Supporting a diverse customer base—including underground and surface hard rock mines, coal mines, and construction sites such as quarries—the TSSR focuses on retaining existing business while identifying opportunities for growth.
Job Description
- Identifies prospects and assists with the preparation of presentations.
- Develops sales skills and knowledge of the products, services, and customers by working closely with a more experienced sales representative to promote products, close orders and resolve problems.
- Maintain and update the Core database with details of customer activities.
- Develop understanding of machining practices and processes utilizing modern tooling systems and how ’s product portfolio meets the market needs.
- Establish annual, quarterly, monthly, or weekly sales plans and prioritize and schedule own activities so these targets are met.
- To support field sales reps with product testing and related tasks in order to ultimately support additional sales and market share gains.
- Gather and compile data, tool testing comparisons, competitive information, and cost comparisons.
- Responsible for achieving sales and market share targets and assist with the development of sales budgets and business plans.
- Develop and maintain customer relationships with key decision makers within your allocated sales area.
- Initiate and coordinate product trials with customers, with a focus of adding value to their business.
- Seek out new applications for Rock Tools products, as well as opportunities for other Sandvik products and services.
- Provide monthly business analysis and market activity report updates.
- Provide monthly stock forecasts by product / by customer.
- Customer Relations
- Management of the RDT contracted services and related personnel.
- Provide leadership to the Sandvik staff on site
- Managerial and overseeing responsibilities of all technical maintenance scope of work aimed at delivering best practice
- Effective coordination and execution of all service obligations as governed by the specific commercial contract with the client,
- Mentor and train identified staff
- Ensure and providing updated personal details to HR.
- Adhering with HR Policies and TCE
- Ensure all activities are being carried out in accordance with Company Values and current Company policies and procedures
- Foster continued good relations with all clients to ensure ongoing business opportunities are forthcoming.
JOB QUALIFICATION / REQUIREMENTS:
- Relevant trade or engineering qualification (Degree / Higher Diploma), and/or a history in mining related field sales
- Strong Business sense
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in the use of Spreadsheets and Report writing + other MS Office Applications
- Drivers Licence
Experience:
- Experience in the application of underground and surface drill operations, specifically TH and DTH drilling is preferred, with operational experience being an added advantage.
- A strong customer focus and the ability to develop solid customer relationships at an operational and management level.
