Production Assembler - Heavy Equipment

Currently, we have an opening for a Production Assembler – Heavy Equipment. This role is well suited for entry-level mechanics or hands-on and mechanically inclined learners who want to build real experience in heavy equipment manufacturing. As a Production Assembler, you will support the assembly, installation, and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components used in underground mining equipment.

What you will be doing

· Assembly/sub-assembly work of a machine: modules, electrics, hydraulics, cabin, etc.

· Ocular inspection of the quality and validity of the delivered materials for the work

· Module assembly puts together entities from sub-assembly and other items.

· Final assembly work starts by getting to know the details of the order: tailored production structure, basic machine structure, parts catalogue and options required.

· Use hand and power tools to assemble or repair parts and products.

· Interpret technical documents, such as diagrams, schematics, blueprints, or other verbal or written instructions.

· Identify any defective items and handle them according to established procedures.

· Work to standard operating procedures, bills of materials, manufacturing information, and instruction from management or engineering.

· Responsible for visual and functional inspections of material before and after assembly by conducting inspection for conformance to drawings and specifications, functional operation, and appearance.

· Assist with on-the-job training and continuous improvement of processes and procedures.

· Performs other relevant duties as assigned by manager.

Environmental Health and Safety

· Complies with Sandvik Mining safety policies and applicable government, customer or industry regulations or requirements.

· Responsibility to identify and report any unsafe work habits, workplace incidents and/or near misses. Perform risk assessments (“Take Five”) prior to each task.

· Maintains hand tools and equipment to ensure safe operation.

· Maintains orderly work area and ensures housekeeping requirements are met.

· Attend Environmental, Health and Safety related trainings.

· Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) assigned for each task.

What you will bring along

· Technical diploma or certification in the mechanical trades or discipline.

· 1 to 2 years experience in equipment manufacturing.

· Ability to comprehend related schematics, blueprints, and drawings.

· Knowledge of basic hand tools, fasteners, and fittings.

· Ability to work as part of an integrated, broad team.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Forklift and overhead crane experience considered an asset.
